I'm looking for a good time (heh) - so tell me:

Is there someone you think i'd be good to be friends with?

How about a book you love that I should read?

Is there a song that I should check out?

{Optional, for those that partake: Is there a fic you really like and think I should read?}

p.s.: I am feeling better. Yay!

(I love when I refrsh my f-list and there is a new
post! lol)

I can recommend a couple of books!

Jeannette Walls - The Glass Castle (its her life story and it is fantastic)
Anything by Jodi Picoult, especially My Sister's Keeper. (this book got me started on reading most everything else she has written)
Anything by Patricia Cornwell, if you like crime and forensics type stories.

Uumm, it's late and my allergy ridden brain refuses to let me think of anything else right now. :(

Oh, an dI love your icon! You always have the best ones!

Thank you for the recommendations! I've wanted to read the Jeannette Walls book - I've seen her interviewed on a few shows, as well as reading reviews, and it sounds like it would be a great book.

And I keep meaning to read Jodi Picoult's books - but I haven't gotten around to it!

No worries about being allergy-addled - I've been there too often myself!

I highly recommend "Love Creeps" by Amanda Fillipacchi (I think that's how you spell her name). It was hilarious!

Hmm.. well, I know you read "King Dork," so in the high school vein, I'd possibly suggest Scott Westerfeld. His Uglies/Pretties/Specials trilogy is a little out there and lacking, but I am currently very much enjoying "So Yesterday."
Also, two favorite teen books - "Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist" by Paul Levithan and Rachel Cohn, and "Boy Meets Boy,", also by Levithan.

[Nick and Norah and So Yesterday are superbly written - the falling-in-love scenes are incredibly sweet and kind of... I dunno. Just...good.]

Oh, and songs... Whew.

Um. Gym Class Heroes, from the "As Cruel as School Children" Album:
The Queen and Me
Scandalous Scholastics
Viva La White Girl
Cupid's Chokehold

And from Papercuts:
Papercuts (the reason for the lesions)
7 Weeks

Aaaand.. um.. heh heh...

Pasties and a g-string, Tom Waits
Fairytale of New York, The Stars (cover)
Bellezza Nueva, Jason Mraz

Hm. Yeah. I think that's it.

Oh, if you dig country, try Kane. Specifically "Crazy in Love" and "House Rules"

Thanks for the music recommendations - I've been listening to some of the Gym Class Heroes songs - so I'll have to check out the others!

And yep - I do dig country (in addition to jazz, metal and rock)! :-)

Country is kind of my Last Stand, sorta. I listened to it, devotedly, as a kid, which made me ridiculously unpopular, and I still have some issues with that.
[That, and I just don't find it quite as good as I remember it being.]

In any case, Kane is pretty good - the lead singer is Christian Kane, who was on Angel, which is how I got into it, in the first.

Yeah, I listened to country music *a lot* when I was a kid, to where my best friend and I were singing "I Hate Rock n' Roll" when we were in the 3rd grade!

Needless to say, I let that go for a long time, then found that I was liking some of the old stuff I grew up on (Willie Nelson, Waylon Jennings, etc.) - as well as some of the newer stuff (Dixie Chicks, Randy Travis, so on and so forth).
