Concert Update
May. 25th, 2003 12:35 amI went to the Gin Blossoms show - in the pouring rain - and had a damn good time. :) Never realised how short Robin Wilson (lead singer) was until tonight ... I don't think he's any taller than 5'8", but lawdy, he does have some energy in him.
The show was a lot of fun - I was standing up against the guard rail, singing along with probably every song, and rocking out with probably a few hundred other people. The cool thing was that Robin would stand on the guard rail to sing, and he'd shake hands with people in the crowd - even crowd-surfing during one song (more on that in a bit).
I think it was during "Til I Hear It From You" that Robin decided to crowd-surf. He got on the guard rail, with his back to the crowd - I thought it best to not smack his ass, even if it was in my face ... there was a security guard that probably weighed at least 350 lbs. easily, and I didn't want to cause trouble - so I got to help him (Robin, that is) into - and out of - the crowd. So, yeah, minor highlight of my life: Robin Wilson's ass in my face, twice in one night. ;)
Another highlight would be Robin putting on a bra thrown at the stage ... reminded me of something I'd heard that Steven Page had done at a BNL show once, except I don't know that Steve had the bra on upside down. *smirk* Still, it was quite funny.
Only drawback was that it rained cats and dogs. But the guys were glad to see us in the crowd, saying that we were all troupers for sticking it out to see them despite the rain. Hell, I was glad to see them - rain or shine!
Now, I'll see if I can wait for BNL to get back on the road ... don't know if I can be so patient.
