It's been a few days since I've talked about how I'm doing food-wise. Well, after having had about 5 days of being terrible when it came to my eating, I've been getting back onto the wagon. Not the easiest thing to do - especially since I've missed a couple of meetings. :-/

Anyways, tonight, I'm hanging around the apartment being a slacker bum. I could/should be working on a story I started the other night ... and I may do that. There's been a lack of good reading recently - I just need to get my subversive little mind in gear and keep writing.

Besides that - I'm in the mood for some new music. I seem to prefer avoiding most radio stations - outside of public radio, cos I'm a closet snob like that (okay, maybe not) - so I don't really hear too much in the way of new stuff.

I admit that in the process of reading others' Live Journals, I read about musicians that sound interesting - namely, Jason Mraz and OkGO - but is there anyone else that can recommend something? Please? :)

As if you need to know, I'll listen to almost anything once, and I seem to listen to almost anything. (I'm such a music slut like that)

Well, I do very much dig the Eels. I'd recommend Daisies of the Galaxy or Souljacker if you like faster, more upbeat stuff.

Ah... G. Love is good get-your-groove-on tunes.

Tonic is good old-fashioned rock music with a loverly Oirish bent. Though I'm more of an early fan - I like Lemon Parade over and above Sugar and Head on Straight. (Also, cute frontman - this icon is he).

And I've just come across some fabulous Stan Getz.

Oh, and for a laugh, try the album Lounge-a-Palooza... Steve & Eydie Gormé singing "Black Hole Sun"... It doesn't get better than that, this side of BNL.

I've really been digging old REM lately. Like "Automatic For The People" and "Monster" era.

I'm absolutely ga-ga for the German Art Students, but they might be hard for you to find since they are an unsigned, local band from Madison, WI. They got a mention in Rolling Stone a couple months ago as a hot new band on the rise, which is weird because Rolling Stone's hot new bands usually aren't new (or all that hot), let alone unsigned.

Anyway, the Stone calls them witty New Wave and that pretty much sums it up. With song titles like "Nightmare Date Experience," "Steve Vai Boyfriend" and "Disgruntled Figure Skating Judge" you know you are in for one hell of a ride. I've posted their albums on the Fight Club, which you can find using Hotline, but they might also be available on straight sites, such as Kaazaa.

Wilco's "Yankee Hotel Foxtrot" is most excellent in my opinion and Sleater-Kinney's "One Beat" absolutely ruled my world for the six months after it came out.
