I haven't been antisocial - just tired. I may even go to bed early tonight - the body has to recuperate from stress somehow, right?

For those that, like me, are watching American Idol ... were you also cringing at half the contestants last night? Especially Silvia, whose bombast and slurring almost had me in a fetal position. (I may not be 150% on my articulation ... but I at least make an effort. She didn't even try!) Patrick - the metal dude - he was alright, but he's definitely a hard rock/metal guy.

I've cemented my Geek Status recently. Here's the story behind that: On the barenaked.net (or bn.net as I call it) board, there was a thread about Mike Tyson's new body art. Someone made a comment about Tyson trying to emulate the Maori warriors of New Zealand - but in this person's opinion, Tyson wasn't worthy of being considered a warrior - or a Maori for that matter. I replied that perhaps he'd (Tyson) had suddenly gotten erudite, watched the film Once Were Warriors and fancied himself to be like Jake, wife-beating and all. {Once Were Warriors is a film from New Zealand about the Maori tribe, and the trials and tribulations of one family. Very disturbing - but good.}

Therefore, I am a full-on geek for referencing a somewhat obscure foreign film on a thread about Mike Tyson. Yay me! ;)

Since I like to think that I'm among friends and other assorted lovelies, I can say this: I've grown bored of lesbian erotica. Yes, I know of my current romantic situation, blah blah blah ... doesn't change anything. I'd just rather read gay erotica. *eg* And thankfully, the 10th Anniversary edition of the Best American Erotica anthology edited by Susie Bright has a little bit of everything for everyone. :) The few stories I've read so far are wonderfully subversive and wicked hot. Definitely recommended reading.

Hm. Tired of lesbian erotica? Or just the kind you find? Maybe you just need to find better stuff!

I didn't really care for anyone last night, but the Marines guy had me laughing. My best friend was rooting for Patrick.

I missed last night's AI but saw tonight's. Meh. I still miss Frenchie.

Obscure foreign film references are just one of the thousands of reasons I love you.

You... you... TRAITOR! HA just kidding. Read whatever gets you hot, I say. I know that gay male erotica gets me hot too. As long as you aren't sneaking into my potential roommate's (or anyone else's!) bed... I say read what you want!

*Runs screaming from the mention of Once Were Warriors*
AAAAHHH!! Not the Maoris, anything but the Maoris!

[Sorry, freshman anthro nightmare...]

I read that thread and laughed my ass off at the mention of the Maoris and "Warriors". I was truly showing my Anthro-geek. I even emailed it to a couple of my anthro friends and they got a good chuckle out of it. So if you're ever looking for a new and more geeky subculture, come look for the hippies hanging out under the tree discussing religious artifacts and their impact on culture and war. ;)
