Today was the office party, which I why I'm posting earlier than usual ... and from home. :)

I came into the office and a few co-workers had given out presents - ornaments, hand lotion, "Snowman Soup" - cocoa mix, marshmallows, candy cane and a holiday mug, among other little goodies. The best were from my supervisor, Sherry (a gift card for Westfield Shoppingtown) and a $25 American Express gift check from one of our company reps. And this was *before* the party!

We closed the office early - at 11:30 - and went to a nearby restaurant for our party. The cool thing is that the restaurant was intimate, and since they're only open for dinner, we were able to have the place to ourselves. There was a white elephant gift exchange before the meal, the Big Boss gave us the Christmas present from the agency - $50 cash, and of course we had our meal.

The party was fun, because it was a chance for us to get away from the office and enjoy each other's company, without the pressure that comes from looking around the office and seeing a mountain of paperwork. There was an open bar - which was especially nice, and no one got shitfaced drunk ... nor was there any pressure to do so. I had a Cosmopolitan - a drink I'd always been curious about, but never had an opportunity to try. Good stuff. :) {Grey Goose vodka, triple sec & a splash of cranberry juice}

As for the gift exchange, Sherry had my name, and I joked about how I would be in trouble since my supervisor had me. Actually, she was very nice to me - I got the Non Sequitur desk calendar I'd asked for, *and* a $20 gift card for Borders Books! :^)

I had our office administrator's name, and I'd gotten him a gift card for Borders Books. He was saying (jokingly) that he wanted dirty magazines, so after he'd opened his gift, I told him that he could buy his own dirty magazines. ;)

And oh yeah, the sweater went over VERY well - I got many compliments on it, and on how pretty I looked. :) That really made me feel good.

Now, I just have to get packed up for my visit to my parents' house this weekend. I'll be getting the Christmas cards out on Monday - I apologize for the delay!!

And speaking of Christmas cards ...
