From a Hallmark Fresh Ink birthday card: "We should go bowling in Canada. That way, when we're old, we can look back and say 'Remember that time we went bowling in Canada?'"

With that, Kellie and I have decided that on our next sojourn to Canada, we *have to* go bowling. :)

To begin, Greetings to [livejournal.com profile] chicketychinah! Glad you're reading along!

Today was the graduation party and the Christmas party. I went to the graduation party at close to 5 p.m., and just got home about 20 minutes ago. I was enjoying the company too much at the graduation party - so I opted out of the church party. 'Tis alright, I'll be going to church in the morning, and next weekend brings another round of parties.

The graduation party was quite fun - I got to see a lot of the family members that I already know, and met a few that I only know by name or voice. The food was wonderful - I thought it would be hors d'oveures and drinks at the most, but it was that and roast beef and smoked turkey served with dollar rolls, and what I fondly call "funeral potatoes", because they're served after every Mormon funeral. Or at least, several of the ladies at church get drafted into serving a meal for the family after the funeral service, and this particular type of potato dish is always there.

Anyways, good food, and while there was alcohol in abundance, I wasn't tempted. If there were a bottle of Rum at the bar, I'd be in trouble. Although, I will admit to drinking 1/3 glass each of Shiraz and Chardonnay with dinner.

I wasn't sure how to dress for the party, so I decided to wear my favorite black dress with a silver blouse over it. This way, I was dressy, but not overdone if I were to arrive and everyone was in sweaters and jeans. (Actually, it was a mix) Those I knew complimented me on how I looked tonight, which really made me feel good. :)

As the evening went on, I got to talk with family members and friends, and a few extremely colorful guests. Like Drunk Boy, who told me about his experiences with duck hunting, deja vu, and his interest in insurance, construction and marketing. I met one of my clients that I (thankfully) haven't heard much from since he first purchased his policy, and we talked about BNL and Toronto - he'd lived in Buffalo for about 5 years, and remembers seeing BNL 'back in the days' in Toronto. And you know how in family comedies, they always have that annoying neighbor kid that seems to wear out his welcome? He really exists - and in this case, was a 14 year old that was so hard-up to try drinking some of the alcohol. I don't know if he succeeded, but he just struck me as being annoying as all get-out.

Don't worry - I got home in one piece. When I was ready to leave, the Big Boss was insistent that someone take me home, that he didn't want me to take the bus late at night. So, I rode home with his oldest daughter (also a friend of mine), and thought it was very sweet that the Big Boss would worry over me like that.

Finally, I was angsting over not having enough money to get both my haircut and a new sweater for the work Christmas party, and I told my mom that I ended up deciding to get my hair cut, since I could always wear a sweater from a couple of years back. Anyways, today I got a call from my parents asking if I was going to be home. They wanted to drop off an early Christmas present: the money to buy my sweater. So I did buy my sweater - long sleeved, gold, looks like a twinset - and all is okay in the world.

Now, I'm gonna run to the grocery store for a couple of bottles of soda, and maybe some cereal. Then, I'm changing into PJs to watch Saturday Night Live!

I tried to call you this morning/afternoon but you were out. :(

Yum.. silver blouses and shiraz.

YAY for new sweater! Sounds gorgeous. You are one of the luckly people that can wear both gold and silver.

Please tell me I didn't hear Jimmy Fallon say he was leaving SNL. You know I totally fell in love with him when you played me that CD, and so if that's true, I'm bummin pretty hard.

Hopefully I'll get to chat with you tomorrow.

I'll see you two weeks from today!

I got that card from a fellow BNL fan that obsessed with Canada in the mail for my birthday. She wrote on the bottom..."Well, it's an excuse to go back!":)
