This is for everyone - my voting-age Lovelies in California, and the people that know and/or like/love us. :-)

There's a proposition (Prop 8) on the November ballot that will eliminate the right for same-sex couples to get married. If it passes, Kellie and I - as well as many other couples - may find ourselves "unmarried".

The Yes on 8 supporters are really strong - and the Mormon Church is getting in on the act, telling their members to rally their friends, families and others around them to vote yes. The mere fact that the church is getting into politics really chaps my ass - is there any way to petition for them to lose their tax-exempt status? :-X

In all seriousness, the No on 8 folks are losing their lead because the opposition is raising boatloads of money - which translates into getting their message (teh homosexuals are getting married - and they're going to corrupt The ChildrenTM!) out to far more people.

So, if you're in California - Get out and vote on November 4th, and please Vote NO on Prop 8! Also, please volunteer to help the No on 8 efforts, if you can.

If you're out of the state, or can't volunteer any time, and still want to help, please donate to No on Prop 8 - http://www.noonprop8.com.

Thank you very much for hearing (or reading) me out, and thanks in advance for your support!

Love to all,

Carly

That really sucks. :-(

Hopefully there will be more than a few people that know better than to believe those ads!

I really don't wanna see the decision get reversed, so we've been donating what we can spare, and of course we're gonna vote no. I also managed to explain to a coworker that voting no on 8 preserves same-sex marriage rights, because it apparently wasn't clear to her, so that's three, for what it's worth.

I really don't want it to pass... My BFF said they tried to do the same thing in Canada and it didn't work, so I'm just crossing my fingers that we're that good.

I can't vote, so I donated. I hope equality kicks the ass of fear.

When I heard about the church rallying the support of everyone to vote no on proposition 8, it made me so angry! i so hate that if the church thinks its so wrong, that all these completely mind-numbed fools will follow right along.

the church needs to keep their noses out of what couples decide to do!

I only wish they were rallying everyone to vote No on Prop 8!!! :-) {Voting No would mean that gay marriage stays legal}

And I agree - they really do need to mind their own business. This sure as hell isn't the Mormon church I was brought up in!

[purposely smacks head on her desk repeatedly] I'm sorry you live in a world where you are told you are different and wrong from everyone else. I'm afriad I have relatives who are to blame for that...not in California mind you, but, ya know. In general. I'll donate what I can for the cause. You and Kellie always have my support.

PS EDIT: I love your icon. AMEN!!

But kids will learn about gay sex in kindergarten! I saw it on the TV commercials! How could you be for Prop 8?!?!

In all seriousness, yesterday I happily voted. (I always do the "absentee voter" thing so I can take my time and really try to inform myself about the different propositions.) I purposely saved Prop. 8 for last, because I knew just how good filling in the No circle would be.

Two of our neighbours have "yes on 8" signs in their lawn. As soon as my car gets out of the shop, I am buying some poster board and making my own "no on 8" sign for my lawn.

All we can do now is hope that most Californians have enough sense to not take away human rights. :^)

Yay!

It seems like a good percentage of Californians know better - even some Mormons and Republicans have caught a clue and are saying No on 8.

I'm still kind of antsy about it - don't want to get ahead of myself - and I hope that come next Wednesday morning, Kellie and I will still be married!
