Nov. 13th, 2002 08:01 pmEvery week, I end up hearing of another CD to add to my ever-expanding list of CDs that get me screaming "I want that CD, dammit!"
Here's the list currently:
Gin Blossoms - New Miserable Experience 10th Anniversary re-release with a 2nd CD of b-sides, live tracks and unreleased material. I saw that there were tracks from Dusted and I almost geeked out in the middle of Circuit City. (Dusted being an indie EP that the band swore would never see the light of day cos the songs were quite rough-hewn, and not as polished as New Mis) Shame they broke up, though. If nothing else, their lead singer can work on being the only Physics professor with a platinum record on the wall in his office. And I heard that their bass player (Bill Leen) runs an indie bookstore in Tempe.
Tony Bennett & k.d. lang - A Wonderful World Tony Bennett & k.d. lang performing Louis Armstrong tunes. A wonderful world, indeed. Let's just put it this way ... I've had an unrepentant crush on k.d. lang since '92. I was hot for her like every other woman on the face of the earth, only my crush went past the norms of heterosexuality ... and into the realm of "girl-loving lang thangs". And oh yeah, Tony Bennett's voice is truly A & M-azing.
Various - For The Kids Well, duh. BNL, Guster, Dan Wilson of Semisonic, Darius Rucker (Hootie & The Blowfish), Sarah McLachlan, among others. The money goes to VH1's Save The Music (if I'm not mistaken), and you get a swell crayon in the jewel box. Really.
U2 - Greatest Hits - 1990/2000 I have their first Greatest Hits collection, and I've been looking forward to this one. Especially since my brother hijacked my copy of Achtung Baby months ago. I *love* the song "Who's Gonna Ride Your Wild Horses" - don't know what it is about the song, but it's just too gorgeous, in my little mind.
Various - 9 1/2 Weeks The movie was ehhhh - you know it's bad when you sit there with the DVD remote, flipping through the chapters to get to the sex scenes cos the plot sucks. Yet I'm too chickenshit to watch porn. Oh yeah ... the soundtrack. The soundtrack completely rocks my soul. The Eurythmics, Bryan Ferry, Stewart Copeland, among others. Great music, bad movie. But isn't that usually the case?
