I've been thinking about something. I've gotten two piercings, yet from time to time, I find myself wanting to get another one. Usually, I think about getting my 2d and 3d holes re-done, or perhaps getting a helix (upper ear cartilage) piercing. The eyebrow piercing is enough facial piercing for me!

People say that tattoos can be addictive - but I've never heard anyone say that of piercing. Maybe it's just that for me, the pain is a "good pain". I risk looking like I've traded in the cutting/scratching for another form of S/I - one that's more "acceptable".

I don't think that personally, but I do know that it's possible that others around me may look at it that way.

Its very true, I find tattoos very addictive, I've often heard people say that the pain of a tattoo is a good pain, much like your piercing pain.

I'm sure that it is ... I just know that when I've gone in to see Eldo, I've heard the buzzing of the tattoo gun and tried to not cringe. Somehow, I can handle having one hole punctured into my body ... but not the idea of having a needle in my skin repeatedly.

Of course they can be addictive. But I say that as long as you are able to care for all of them adequately, can afford to keep getting them, and are not endangering your career/work life, then who cares. Get a bunch of holes in your ears and stuff.

My only concern would be... what happens when you run out of "regular" stuff to pierce? Move on to the crazy stuff, or just get really depressed? Neither sounds good to me.

No worries there, dear. I seriously doubt that I would be running off to get holes put into odd places (i.e.; the web of my fingers). I may have my crazy, irrational moments ... but, please!! I'm not *that* stupid ... well, most times.

I think piercings can be just as addictive as tats.

With me though, I love them (both piercings and tats) and love getting them, but I don't want them to be covering my whole body and I don't want any piercings in weird places just for the sake of getting them. So, as much as I like them, I only get them where I actually want them and feel comfortable with them.

Oh yeah - I agree with you on that. I'm not going for anything freaky or "out there". Honestly, I'm sticking with just getting my ears all full of holes. (Okay, not too many, but you probably get the idea)

Besides, I saw someone at Hot Topic that had her eyebrows pierced to where it looked like in lieu of eyebrows, she just had the piercings. I was too distracted by that to even notice if she had anything else done! So, yeah ... none of that for me.

That just sounds freaky to me. I am not saying this individual didn't actually like their piercings, but sometimes people do things simply for the shock value and I HATE that. I have a friend whom I love dearly, but she will do things just because she thinks people will say "can you believe she did that???" Weird piercings seem to sometimes fall in that category.

Definitely. It seems that way to me, too. Some of the piercings are fascinating, and some are just skeery as hell, leaving me wondering WTF was that person thinking?

I will admit that a very, very small part of my piercings involves thumbing my nose at my family and my upbringing. A nice, relatively safe, trippy "fuck you" directed at the Mormon faith.
