This is one of my all-over-the-place, sometimes bitchy and squabbly entries. So, I'll have it broken out in some places, to avoid the whole non sequitur-ness of it.
1) Client rant
Dear Client,
I know that you're upset over the idea that your premium doubled from the last policy term. And when I explained to you that it went up because you'd added two *brand new* cars, you still got squabbly and pissy, wanting to know why it went up so much, because you're good drivers, blah blah blah.
Well, if you're gonna be obnoxious about it, then I'll just say that it is an Idiot Surcharge. A really hefty surcharge.
But, I digress. You have BRAND NEW cars. Do you want them to be covered for an adequate amount, so you can get a similar car if yours is totaled? Or would you rather have the seriously cheap insurance - and your totaled car replaced with a 1975 Ford Pinto, or maybe even that French hoopty called the Citröen? Because, that can be arranged, too. No, really, it can. I'm sure that I can find some shyster of an insurance agent that can get you set up *just fine* in that regard.
No love whatsoever,
Carly
2) Time Off Work
I've taken yesterday (and today) off work, so I can have some "me time", as well as making sure that 500 things get done today. Yesterday was a baseball game (more about that, later). Today, is not as fun - it's the maids (done once every several weeks - or when we have family/close friends visiting); then the flea exterminators; then I'm going to the dermatologist, to make sure that my rosacea is doing alright (currently, it's not ... I've been breaking out again, and I get red over the most minor things).
Yesterday, I'd gone to see the Giants play my hometown team, the St. Louis Cardinals. It's something that I do annually. Go to a day game when the Cardinals are playing the Giants. Last year, it was a lot of fun, even though I did get sunburned. This year, it was fucking cold. At the risk of being TMI, I swear, the combination of incredibly cold air and PMS does not work at all. My nipples had gotten so hard that it felt like they could cut through glass - if they didn't burn right off beforehand. I'd never had so much pain ... as well as a reminder of why, no matter how much I'd want to, I'm *never* getting my nipples pierced. Ever.
So, yeah. Hopefully next year's game won't be so damned cold.
3) Girls' Night Out
Tomorrow night, I'm having a girls' night out with Kellie and some co-workers, since one of my favorite co-workers, Robin (or Mama Robin, as we call her) is quitting. We're going for dinner in the North Beach area, with plans to go to a coffee house/bar called Tosca - one of the best places to go for spiked coffee.
Also, since we'd done a major project at work - scanning paper files into our system - we were supposed to go out for lunch, but instead talked our manager and He Who Signs The Checks into letting us take the money that would've been spent at a lunch, to be used for the dinner. :-)
So, that's what's going on in my part of the blogosphere/universe/microcosm of California.
