I've got plans to visit my favorite animals at the shelter Pets Unlimited this weekend. Perhaps this afternoon, to wipe away the remnants of a bad week.

It's been a while since I've done this, so I thought I'd show some of the newer arrivals at the shelter:


Cruz - a full-grown lap puppy. He doesn't care that he's a medium-sized dog, he still thinks that he belongs on your lap, giving you hugs and getting attention!

Krystal - she's only a few months old, and a very sweet, playful girl. She loves to play with her stuffed animals, and is especially fond of her squeaky piggy.

Cherry - she's kind of shy, but very sweet - and very good with cats. She has the potential to be a friendly, gentle companion for someone.

Otis - he's a bit rambunctious, as puppies tend to be, but is doing well with starting to learn his commands.

Clover - Who could resist her sweet puppy face? She recently lost a right front leg due to an accident, but is expected to make a full recovery.

Now that you've seen my canine friends - onto some of my feline friends!


Tilly - I love this picture of her, it's like 'feline cheesecake' or something. Tilly is a big gal, but she's a pretty girl - and quite unique, because red tabbies are typically male - only 1 in 3000 are females.

Leche - he's almost the color of cafe au lait, and a bit shy, but when he warms up to you, he will purr like crazy!

Bubble - she has a slight bob-and-weave in her walk, which makes it look like she's sneaking around at every turn - but she's kind of a shy kit-teen.

Annie - a very pretty brown tabby kitten. She's friendly, loving and even has a best buddy, Mo.

Mo - Annie's best pal. She's shy - unlike Annie - but once you get to know her, she is friendly and purrs away.

Rico - I haven't met this fellow yet, but I like his fluffy coat and chubby kitty cheeks.

Oh no! I'm such a sucker for animals in need of homes. I have to wait until one of my current ones, well, you know, before I can get more. :( But Rufus! I'm in love with cute little one-eyed Rufus already. I just sent some money for Rufus. *sigh* If anything should ever happen to the hubby, I am going to become The Dog Lady.

Yay! Thanks for the donation - I know that Pets Unlimited really appreciates the support - and I'm sure that Rufus is glad to know that he has a long-distance fan! I even made sure to give him a couple of pets while he was (actually) behaving on Sunday! :-)

I love how the write-up on Tilly says that she loves to be brushed. Apparently she doesn't like to be brushed so much as *play with* the brush. Silly girl.

Yeah, I think it's quite funny. Teak (our black cat) does the same thing - well, post-combing.

He loves to be combed, then he'll attack the comb afterwards.

Oh Clover is a total sweetheart. :) I've been in to see her twice, and both times, she's gotten right into my lap and covered my face in puppy kisses!

Awww! It's a shelter weekend!

I just spent a good part of my afternoon at Dakin Animal Shelter. We got one of our kitties there and now it's my favorite charity. It's so hard to go there and not come home with a couple more kittys and a dog!

I love fluffies! :)

Yeah, we went to see them on Friday - and again on Easter Sunday. So it definitely was a Shelter Weekend for me!

There have been quite a few of the dogs that I'd adopt if I could - but, between the apartment not allowing dogs, and my being seriously allergic to them - it's easier to visit for a few hours a week. :)

Yeah, Krystal is Miss Popularity - everyone that has met her seems to fall in love. Then again, it's hard not to fall in love with a *puppy puppy*! :)
