silly kids and a bored mind ... odd combination

When I get bored - or I get into a no-attention-span mode - I troll through the various communities in lj-land, to see what is out there.

Some of the communities are disturbing (especially the pro-anorexia groups, and the subdivisions thereof - mainly by religion, sexuality, or clique), and some are just really fucking weird, like the anti-porn communities. (There's one in particular that I can link to ... I'd just prefer to not have anything remotely indicative of porn, pro or con, on the work computer tracking)

What cracked me up about the particular community I'm going to discuss is that one of their "intro surveys" asks for members' 'sexual preference'. Those that have answered this particular survey usually put 'straight', with a few indicating 'straight/asexual'.

*Thinks about the straight/asexual orientation for a few seconds - then stops before risk of an aneurism sets in.*

Hal Sparks (for those of you who don't know) is an actor/comedian/musician who is currently on the Showtime Series "Queer As Folk" and has appeared on the "I Love the 70s, 80s, and 90s" series on VH1. He also hosted "Talk Soup" on the E! channel a few years back. Hal's Answer: First I would look around to see if I was trapped on a burning bridge… because then I would join him But If he was going to commit suicide I'd ask him to step down, sign an organ donor card first... Then I'd say, "If you want to kill yourself go ahead... But you don't have to die to do it. If your life is so bad.... Leave. Get in a car and drive. Go to a foreign country. Move away. Abandon your old life and start from scratch. You can always kill yourself but you can never take it back. If you are strong enough to kill yourself then you should be strong enough to handle anything. Change. Let your old life die and let your true self live."

A Dig Against Americans?

Just when I thought beautifulcurves had its share of drama-divas, it seems that the ww_users community has a few people that have lost brain cells along with their pounds. All names have been changed to protect those involved, and no grammatical errors have been corrected - as much as it pained me in one or two instances.
