I never was one for taking advice - well, much of the advice doled out to me seems to just go in one ear, and right out the other.

Yet, when I had both Kellie and Tyson giving me the advice to spend my last day of work doing nothing more than just fucking around - not like they could fire me or anything, right? I had the best intentions of taking that advice, because it sounded like it would be a hell of a lot of fun.

Alas, as much as I love them both (one more than the other, as you can guess), I didn't heed the advice of either one of my lovelies. Then again, I did have a few things working against me: a) the new cube space (ha) is pretty much open, so anyone that walks by can see what I'm doing on the computer. b) I was training my replacement, so I had to at least look busy. c) my supervisor works in the cube directly next to mine, and has been inclined towards coming to me several times a day with questions.

But, really, when you think about it, I did manage to spend parts of the day fucking around. In between entering activities and working on processing changes, Robyn (the new gal) and I got to sit and chat about all kinds of things - work-related and otherwise. We moved the company manuals from the back offices to the front, where they would be more easily accessible. We met with the HMM (High Muckety-Muck) on how to handle some upcoming Muckety-Muck clients' renewals. And the last hour of the day was my farewell party, so it gave everyone an excuse to pry themselves away from work for a little while.

Yes, I did get all emo - kind of hard not to, when you're leaving behind people that you've gotten to know over the course of 6 years. People that you've come to love over time - even if the office environment wasn't feeling so friendly.

At the end of the day, though, it was quite liberating to know that when I left my desk - even with a couple of calls to bitchy clients unreturned, and some activities not completed - once I walked out the door, I was washing my hands of it all. It was no longer my responsibility. That felt so good.

Although, they aren't getting rid of me that easily, as I was invited to come back to the office for the Fat Tuesday Luncheon (the majority of the employees are practicing Catholics, so Lent is a big deal for them) tomorrow, and I'll be getting together with Robyn and Shelly for lunch on Thursday. (If all goes well, I'm also trying to finagle a dinner date with Tyson & David this week ... I sent Ty an e-mail with a reminder at the end, cos he did mention it as a possibility last Thursday.)

That's about all for now - I'm going to wait for my last load of laundry for the night to be done, then I'm getting to bed. I do need to get some sleep!
