Well, things are gradually looking up again.

My stepdad is on dialysis, but the doctors are saying that it'll most likely be a short-term thing. If nothing else, it is helping to keep the fluid on his lungs at bay, although a small amount still lurks - probably due to pneumonia. :-/

He's been allowed to eat "people food" again and is on a 1900-calorie Diabetics diet. After his first meal on Wednesday, he bitched about how awful the hospital food tastes. Mom and I were thrilled to hear him complaining, especially considering that at some points, we I almost wondered if he'd pull through.

This morning, he called my mom and asked for her to bring an Egg McMuffin to the hospital, so he could have a "decent" breakfast. When she got there, a nurse told her that he was in X-Ray, and wanted her to get down there with his food as soon as she arrived! So, she went down to X-Ray and saw him right as he was coming out, with one of the doctors nearby. The doc didn't mind that he was having McDonald's for breakfast - he was in agreement with my stepdad on the food tasting really awful, and said that having McD's on occasion was alright. :)

The rest of the family seems to be doing alright - every baby step towards better health has my mom positively euphoric. Taylor has become friends with a girl whose mother has been in the ICU for 3 weeks now, so when they're both at the hospital together, they keep each other company, which probably helps both of them. Tay's getting back into ice-skating, and that's a wonderful thing for her. It's her chance to interact with people besides home school classmates, visitors at the hospital and her mom - and it's something that she's loved doing for a long time.

It's the photo that everyone and their mother have been posting to their blogs ... and personally, I LIKE IT. Steve should be required to wear red whenever possible (but, that's my preference ... it makes his lips look redder and poutier), Kevin just looks quite handsome in green, and I'm trying to resist the temptation to rub my boobs on Tyler's bald head. :-X

This only makes me want the album - and the shows - even more. :-D
Speaking of the shows, it looks like Miss Taylor might be accompanying me to the December 7th show if I can get tickets. Don't know how much she'd like Guster or Hootie & The Blowfish, but once BNL hits the stage and she sees Ed's baby blues ... she'll be a lost cause. (I keep trying to convince her that Steve's the way to go - but she's a hardcore Ed girl. And she's only 12!!)

So, discuss, swoon, smack me and tell me to quit sexually objectifying men ... whatever. I'm just starting to get into that "How soon is now and why can't it be any sooner?" mode.
