May. 29th, 2003 05:13 pmCan I say that allergies are a real pain? We're supposed to be having a Green Day (air quality, not the band) - yet I was taking a 2d Claritin about 18 hours into its 24 hour dosing. I know that without the stuff, I'd be outside for about 15 minutes and wheezing, sneezing, all the other fun stuff.
Talking to my mom, she suggested going to an allergist. That's a swell idea, but I don't think I'd be able to get time off to go for the first visit until July, with the way the department schedules are working! But, it's better than popping 24-hour Allegra or Claritin twice a day - and I can find out if the allergies are serious enough to merit shots ... or just finding the right fit drug-wise.
I've been comtemplating seeing an allergist for a while now - the biggest reason being the pet dander issue. Then, the hay fever and its many different iterations comes around - along with the doctor grumping at me for "wanting a cure". I'd love to have a cure, but realistically, I know it's not going to happen. I just want to be able to take walks outside and visit friends and family with pets (especially cats) without shapeshifting into a sneezing, wheezing red-eyed creature. And since telling people to get rid of their beloved pets isn't an option - and when I get the inclination to go outside, I refuse to stay cooped up indoors - I'd want to know what can be done in the meantime.
Enough of my whining. I've got more to say - but it'll have to wait, as I'm not at home. So have a good afternoon/evening everyone!
