Well, today was one of hell of a day in the office. Sherry was out with major back problems - she couldn't even get out of bed, it was that bad. So the young ones got to hold down the fort. The fact that our department didn't burn down is a very good thing - especially considering the day.

Since Vicki is gone, I've been getting calls from her clients - basically taking them on as my own for the time being. Some of them come up with real doozies, like the client that asked (quite seriously) if she'd be able to get a discount on her homeowners insurance for having dogs ("A natural built-in alarm system" she called it). For the record - no. Actually, many insurance companies will decline covering people for having certain breeds of dogs (Akitas, Bulldogs, Chows are among them) because of their reputation for attacking people.

It only got better from there. In the afternoon, I had someone call about a letter I'd sent advising her that we no longer had her auto insurance, and that she should turn her towing bill over to her current carrier. Somehow, she was oblivious to the fact that she'd been sent a warning notice - and later had her payment refunded since the policy was cancelled - and she'd been without insurance for almost a year. Of course, she was up in arms over this, swearing that she didn't get any warning notice from the company and that she *did* send in her money.

In calling the company, this person was sent a warning notice, and later had her money refunded since the policy was cancelled by the time her payment arrived. As you can guess, the client was pissed -threatening to cancel her coverage with the company if we couldn't get the coverage reinstated back to August 2002. (Riiight - as though they'd go for that one.)

Well, in an almost unbelievable move, the underwriter was willing to make a HUGE exception and re-write the policy at today's date, with that behemoth lapse. The client was happy that I could do this, and I was almost flabbergasted that it could even happen.

There's still crap on my desk to be done - things that fell to the wayside in the disarray and insanity that was our skeleton crew today. But, those things can be done tomorrow. Tonight, I'm going to just take it easy and get ready for a 3 day weekend. :)

Have a good night everyone!
