After Hours ... feeling ranty
Jan. 14th, 2003 06:07 pmWell, the work day is over - I'm just here futzing about until I have to leave & catch a bus home.
The billing stuff wasn't as heart attack-inducing as I'd feared, and even though I can only do about less than half of what needs to be billed, it's a start. Tomorrow, I should be learning more of it.
In the meantime, I get to deal with stubborn producers trying to test my resolve. How many times can you tell someone "no, that's not possible" before it finally hits them? Yeah, I might still be new to this end of the business, but I've worked with you for over 5 years now, don't think I wasn't paying attention to the complaints I'd heard over time. I'm getting better about noticing when someone is trying to pull a fast one on me - thinking that because I'm still a relative babe in the woods, they can get away with more. As I say, I may be young, but I'm not dumb.
And if it's not that, it's clients that don't seem to get the meaning of the word "no". Should I find a way to explain things to you that even a young child can comprehend? What part of "that stays on your record for 3 years" aren't you hearing? Did you not hear me the first 3 times I explained that there isn't an alternative market for your policy? Don't come in here to sign anything - there's nothing to sign. Unless you want to move your business elsewhere. Then come on down and bring a pen, dammit!
*sigh* Ah well. I was thinking of swinging by the county Library for a showing of Blade Runner, then I remembered that I've never seen the film, and why the hell would I want to go to something like that - attended by film snobs - when I've never had a real desire to see the film in the first place? Am I that bored?
Besides, Sid needs more kibble. He's giving me dirty looks when I bring the carrots 'round. So I should haul ass to Target for bunny kibble - and a hell of a lot of stuff that I didn't know I needed or wanted. You know, a typical venture out to Target. ;)
Until I post again - have a great day/afternoon/evening and be well.
