Here's where I get into some more detail - without doing an hour-by-hour rundown of the minutiae.

Saturday - Kellie came into town. Being a total ditz, I forgot to print out her itinerary while I was at work the day before. I asked her very nicely to re-send it to my home e-mail, only to end up not receiving it until *after* she arrived. What does this mean? That I ended up running all over the main terminal, looking for an incoming flight from Birmingham. Then, it occurred to me that she might be at the east terminal. Whoops.

She was there, having flown in on Southwest. Luggage pick-up went well, but picking up the humans was another story. Lucky us, we encountered a veritable Parking Nazi who wasted her time yelling at my mom to move her car, then attempting to chase my mom down to get her away from a no parking zone. Shit, in that time, Kellie and I could've gotten her bags in the trunk, gotten in the car and been out of there. Ah well. I guess Parking Nazi had to justify her existence somehow. (As though someone driving a Ford Focus with Spongebob Squarepants car accessories, an 11 year old and small dog in tow is a real menace to society.)

Anyways, we got home, laughing over Parking Nazi and discussing "Trading Spaces" the entire time. After getting settled in, we did our gift exchange, with Kellie giving me the MST3K DVD box set (for the Inner Geek), along with a couple of "silly gifts" - a Hello Kitty watch (for the Inner Child), a purple tiara (for the Inner Diva/ depressed days), a photo frame (for the Inner Memory), and cassettes of the BNL show at Barenaked Circus (for the Inner Groupie). :)

Later that day, we went to the mall for the heck of it. Had a late lunch at California Pizza Kitchen, and went to see Catch Me If You Can, which was a great movie. After a quick run to Borders Books and Target, we went home to hang out & watch Saturday Night Live re-runs, for Jimmy Fallon, of course.

Sunday - Slept in late. Hung out in the apartment, watching movies mainly. The new Kevin Smith DVD - An Evening With Kevin Smith was PRICELESS and fucking hilarious. Also the impetus for my odd New Year's Eve post of "Chaka mad!!" All I can say is rent (or buy) it, and you'll see what I mean.

It was a nice, lazy day before starting the work week.

Monday - Kellie and I both had to work. While this sucked, I think it helped us get an idea of how life would be for us if we lived together. How it would be to live our everyday lives, instead of the vacation lives we had on previous visits.

It seemed to work relatively well, I think. Unfortunately, Kellie was doing her work in the middle of my apartment, and it wasn't in the best condition. So, I think she saw the less-than-stellar side of me. If it wasn't my shame-inducing apartment, it was the fact that I have a hell of a time waking up to my alarm. Years back, I got into a horrendous habit - sleeping through the alarm and/or hitting the snooze repeatedly until finally dragging my ass out of bed. Ah well, it's something I'm working on, because I know it's annoying to others, and it's a really stupid thing for me to do anyways.

In other news, I got a sudden inspiration to get a blender at Target, so I e-mailed Kellie and mentioned this odd desire. After work, we hot-footed it over to Cost Plus World Market and left after spending a bit of cash. Then, we went over to Target for the blender. And a few other things.

Tuesday - New Year's Eve. I got off work early, and all our big plans consisted of were to go out for dinner, then coming home to stay in and watch movies all night.

Coming onto the street my apartment is on, I saw one of my parents' cars and almost freaked. I hoped to Gord that all they (my parents) were doing was parking the car there for a doctor's appointment a few doors from my place, or if they had shown up at the door, that they were only there a brief time before I arrived. It was my brother, and he was there about 10 minutes before I got home. I almost felt sorry for Kellie, but they seemed to get along pretty well. Even if it felt like he was checking her out for the family or something.

Anyways, after dinner (Outback Steakhouse), we stocked up on NYE goodies - sparking grape juice, Bacardi Mixers, Mudslide mix, and some other stuff. We spent the night watching MST3K, and a few other films. Being an old lady of 29, I went to sleep before midnight, so I gave Kellie a NYE kiss, and went to bed.

Wednesday - New Year's Day. Dinner with the family. Since neither of us had to work, we spent the day being lazy and (yes, again) watching movies. In the evening, we had dinner with my family, which went surprisingly well. I was freaked out, worried that they wouldn't like her or something. The biggest surprise of the night? My mom saying that "Kellie is family", and that she "knows why Carly likes you".

Taylor was a real trip. We mentioned BNL, and she said, "Ed's a hottie!" When I told her that Kellie and I were Steve women, she replied with, "Steve looks like a camel's butt." Then followed up with, "Well, he's okay for you, Kellie." Mmmmmkay.

Thursday - back to work again. Kellie made pork for dinner - which was incredible. I made garlic mashed potatoes, and offered to make dinner the next night. We stayed in - the weather was crappy - and watched TV all evening. It was a good night, even if it was really mundane.

Friday - closer to the inevitable. After work, the big work plans were to go to the University City (U-City) Loop, and go to the Tivoli to see the film Sex With Strangers.

The film was thought-provoking. VERY thought-provoking. It was about swinging, or The Lifestyle, as those involved in it prefer to call it. If people were going in the hopes of seeing lots of sex, they'd risk being disappointed. Instead, it was an interesting discussion of sorts, showing three different couples' experiences, with all three having varied experiences of course. So, if you get a chance to see it - provided that your town doesn't ban it - it's interesting, and almost disturbing at times.

Afterwards, we went walking about the main strip of the U-City Loop. The search for an after-movie restaurant turned out to be futile, so we opted to come home and have a very late dinner of baked chicken and left-over mashed potatoes.

Saturday - day before the inevitable. After a late start to the day, we went to the Central West End, largely to check out the shops and just hang out around town. Talk was about the week's previous events, what to do later on, everything but Tomorrow - The Day Which Dare Not Be Discussed.

In the evening, we went to The Galleria (yes, just like last Saturday), and did some actual shopping. Kellie found a pair of corduroy pants she had her eye on, along with a big tub of coconut body butter (something I got her hooked on on the last visit), and two very pretty rings. My shopping seemed to be more functional than fun, as I ended up with two bras, a sweater, some panties, and a necklace. Still, it was all in the company, which made the evening incredibly fun.

Today - The Inevitable Has Arrived. Today, Kellie had to go back to San Jose. We finally talked about what we had been avoiding all week. That she was leaving, and how we both weren't exactly looking forward to it. In an unintentional bit of levity, after crawling across the bed for my PJs, I ended up falling head over heels from the edge of the bed. The only real injuries sustained were to my ego, and my right wrist is sore, but not bruised.

Of course, we cried. But probably not as much as we could've. We took a few more pictures of ourselves. Went out for lunch and talked about what is to come. How the week went quite well, and we found that we could co-exist while living our usual lives, even if they were slightly modified to allow for another person being there. We had a few hours to kill, so we sat on the couch and watched Clerks, since we both needed a good laugh. Well, okay, so we watched about 3/4 of the film. :-x

Perhaps it was butch stoicism on my part - despite the fact that I'm not *that* butch, or perhaps it was something else, but I wasn't an emotional trainwreck like I'd feared when Kellie was dropped off at the airport. I don't think that it means that I've become automatonic or something. I think it's just a degree of comfort in the fact that we'll most likely see each other again soon. Of course, we'll talk again soon, and I loved something that Kellie said yesterday when we heard a Gloria Estefan song that reminded her of a friend. She mentioned that she'd hear something like that, and to her, it was a friend's way of saying hello. So when I hear an Indigo Girls song, that will be Kellie's way of saying hello to me. :)

And yes, I'm wearing the tiara as I write this.
