Maybe I just think way too much, but this afternoon, I was thinking about the film Sixteen Candles. You know the scene where Long Duck Dong tells Jake that Samantha "went to the church to get mah-reed"?

I want to know, how did Jake even know which church it was? Do they only have one church in Shermer, IL? Did he just drive all over the city looking for churches that were obviously hosting (or is it holding?) weddings? Or did he somehow find the wedding announcement in the paper?

Inquiring minds want to know. Any ideas or theories? Anyone?

Maybe there were many churches, but only one could be called THE church. It's where everyone wanted to be seen on Sundays. If you said THE church, people knew right away which one you meant.
After all, Shermer, IL was one of those towns where anything was possible! (Including kids showing up for detention on Saturday!)
