Well now that I've got that dose of vitriol out of my system, onto better topics. :)

This afternoon, I ended up discovering that I truly am an idiot. (Hear me out, okay?) After almost a week of not hearing back from Phil (the now-infamous underwriter with Company X), I e-mailed him today & asked him to get back to me on some of the more pressing matters.

A few minutes later, I get an e-mail back from him telling me that he already responded last week. In the e-mail where it read like he'd get back to me with the answers as he could. He then forwarded the e-mail to me, and after scrolling down, I saw that he did, in fact, answer my questions. All of them. God, I felt like such a dork. And this was the day that I couldn't find rates for a line of business in a book, only to have him explain that they were hiding behind another section.

This devolved into a bit of banter in the e-mail when I wrote back, apologizing and explaining that I must've been having a really off-day last Thursday. He responded that he'd been having "continuous off-days for the past four months", and we went back and forth for a couple of minutes. Granted, it was a bit silly, and something of a time-waster, but it was good to see that he has a sense of humor and doesn't think that I'm a total ditz.

Of course, this just gave Vicki fodder to tease me a bit, saying that I was "in with Company X, since Phil likes me". Right. Yeah, as though he'd have anything to do with me. Then again, apparently I'm the only one that can get quick responses out of him. Oy. If Sherry hears about this, she'll probably give me grief over it, too.

I'm probably running around in denial - but I'm being realistic. Yeah, we're both in insurance, but different ends of the business. Who's to say that a CSR that's carrying on with an underwriter couldn't turn manipulative on him/her, using the connection to get some MAJOR things through, that wouldn't otherwise be accepted? It would be as bad as (if not worse than) an inter-office romance, you know? *cue BNL's "Conventioneers" here* And if it ended ... talk about messy!!! You know all that business you pushed through while you were getting humped senseless by Mr./Ms. Underwriter? Hellooo Cancellation Notices for the most asinine reasons!

What am I getting at? If an underwriter is sweet on me - fine. But I'm not gonna mix business with pleasure because it could prove to be a dangerous combination.
