I should probably do something like this every several months, just because. :-) And please don't mind that this is kind of all over the place ... that's just my style.

Anyways, I'm Carly - old as dirt 34, living in San Francisco and I'm an insurance geek. In other words, I'm the person you call when your insurance rates skyrocket, you have a claim, or you've been spending a rainy afternoon reading your policy (oh, wait ... those were my clients in St. Louis).

I was born and raised in St. Louis, and moved to San Francisco in March 2004, for a "change of scenery" (read: to move in with my girlfriend - and to get the hell out of the midwest), even survived the Mormon Church - yes, just like Brenden Urie and Brandon Flowers have also done. I still live with my girlfriend, Kellie ([livejournal.com profile] sigmaration) and her two cats, Teak (a solid, stocky black cat ... I call him the "Angry Black Man") and Cleo (a rather wussy ginger tabby, that I call the "Red Menace").

Yes, I'm queer (lesbian, whatever you want to call it) - and Patrick Stump has stolen my gay. And from what I've seen / read, I'm not the only one with that problem. Yes, I still have the occasional boy crushes, and I've got several gay boys in my life, whom I love dearly.

I like dirty jokes; music (everything from Willie Nelson and Norah Jones to Metallica and Guster); say "dude" way too much; occasionally swear in front of small children (much to the chagrin of their parents); tend to read two or three books at the same time; watch too much (sur)reality TV; enjoy comedies (Airplane!, Meatballs, Zoolander, among others); make it a point to see any Pixar and Tim Burton films that come out; have an unrepentant love of Hello Kitty, and I love Lewis Black and Patton Oswalt's comedy.

As for this blog, well it contains all kinds of things - talk about the everyday, the good, bad and indifferent, and whatever else comes to mind. I have a couple of filters, which helps me to keep you all from wanting to kill me because you don't want to read about my adventures in slashfic, my musings on sex or my slogging through therapy.

If you want to join any of the filters (and I think several of you are already on the fanfic one), let me know, and I'll add you! :-)

That's all I can think of for now - if there's anything else that you want to know, just ask me!

O hai, fellow Bay-Arean! Give me your opinion on the city.

(This is the point where I should probably disclose that, as a quasi-native, I had to move to the other side of the country to figure out how good we really have it here. o_O)

I've been here over 3 years ... and I love it. When I go home to St. Louis for Christmas, I get a reminder of why I like it here - as well as a bit of "Oh my God ... why did I stay here so long?!?"

Yeah, I went back east for a few days last spring, had about 24 hours of "oh god, I miss this" and then wound up snowed in at my friend's house in New Hampshire for pretty much the rest of my vacation, which... right. That'd be why I left, then.

Which is not to say that this area doesn't have its own issues -- hey, half of the building I live in is soft first floor. I'm screwed when the big one hits -- but there are compensations.

(I'm 29, prefer the label "faggot-identified dyke" but will accept bi if that's the only option [except for Patrick Stump, when I become the world's twelvest twelve-year-old, I swear. I'm writing "Mrs. Patrick Martin Stump" on my Trapper Keeper as we speak], probably ought to be in therapy, live in an apartment decorated in east coast intellectual [art on the walls and too many books for the shelves], really enjoy being able to go home to my parent's for dinner almost every Sunday night, work in support services at a small coastal hospital, have two tattoos, the world's orangest car, and a medium-largish collection of hedgehogs. Hi!)

Yeah, if you asked Kellie, she'd tell you that I'm acting about as maturely as the average teenaged FOB fan! (I can't help it ... Patrick just has this odd magnetism! Probably because he's not Pete. *cough*)

What cracks me up would be the fact that people that live in the Marina are paying an assload of money, to live on top of garbage!! Also, because I'm a serious nerd, I almost squeed when I drove past Kirk Hammett's house (which is for sale, and near the Marina, of course).

I also have too many books for the available shelf space - a lot of non-fiction books, as well as some of the fun, cheesy, fluff novels.

Thanks! :-)

With therapy ... there are some weeks that I feel like, "I really don't wanna do this. And I can only use the 'I've got a doctor's appointment/haircut/out-of-town friend visiting" excuses so often!

Dude. Oh my God. You, um...sound like me.

No, really.

Hi. I'm 35 and I work in the HQ of an insurance company. I have a soft spot for anything comedic, say dude like a hundred times a day at the very least, have a bad tendency to say fuck in front of the wee ones, have about three books I'm currently reading at the moment, have musical tastes that are schizophrenic, and am physically incapable of allowing any Pixar or Tim Burton films to go unseen.

Patrick Stump has also stolen my gay; I'm letting him play with it for a little while until I want it back. :D

So, um, HEY! Nice to meet you. *G*

Heh - Nice to meet you, too! :-D

I'm guessing that your my cross-country doppelganger! (or not!)

Currently, I'm focusing on getting through the Harry Potter canon - then I'm onto Flowers In The Attic and Boomsday by Christopher Buckley. And if it counts, I've been reading slash in addition to the 4th Harry Potter book. *g*

As for Patrick stealing our gay - I'm so ready to make shirts that say "Patrick Stump Stole My Gay", to be worn at the FOB concerts.

i'd be interested in the therapy filter if i'm not already and you're comfortable with that.

I've read that too. Someone said Patrick made her straight and Spencer turned her lesbian again! XD

I guess that just shows how awesomely hot Patrick is!

That's awesome.

I have a feeling that any of the insanely gay boys could turn a girl back to her lesbian ways. All I know is that while Patrick stole my gay, Vicky T. definitely gave it back!

I need a Vicky T. icon for one. And for two Vicky T. is one of the hottest things to happen to bandom since Patrick or Frank/Gerard.

Lets see. I'm Marie. 28, government architect (might lose that project due to politics in a few months; we'll see) and I really think Patrick can heal the world. I am not even remotely sarcastic with that. I know this.

I like you, too! I think Patrick (and your stories) can certainly heal the world - but that's just my fangirl opinionation!

Hi! I'm Sarah, and I'm 16. I use to live in Arizona, but now I live in Michigan (Child services were they main reason I moved). I have the tendency to swear like a sailor (my dad is one, so it makes sense), especially when I play Mario Kart. I try not to swear around young children, but it rarely works out. One of the weirdest things about me is that I squeak or eeep! when I get poked. My brother and his friends find this highly amusing. =>.<= I also have the tendency to laugh at things that I probably shouldn't be laughing at.
Some say I have no soul, and I kinda agree.

I started an lj for PxP slash.

I stumbled upon my first PxP slash fic on gaiaonline , when someone posted a link to one in the FOB guild. And from then on I have been hooked. The fic was 'Love in an Elevator' by [personal profile] clippedwings, or smugglersprize at the time.
At that point in time, I had no clue what slash was, nor had I thought of Patrick and Pete together.

Patrick Stump (and the rest of FOB, but mainly Patrick) keep me sane. And I would have to agree with [personal profile] megyal about Patrick healing the world.

I guess that is about it. =^-^=

Hi Sarah! I'm glad you're here! :-)

I got into PxP the way a lot of people do - just got smacked in the head with the idea that "you know, Pete and Patrick are really cute together. They'd be totally hot getting it on together."

Someone else who escaped St. Louis! I grew up there, too - left almost 10 years ago. If I was feeling more native, I'd totally ask where you went to high school. ;)

Hehe - I tend to be a bit of a St. Louis expat magnet! :-)

The "where did you go to high school" question is one that I'm glad to no longer hear! (For the record, I went to Riverview Gardens.)

We're like a club. Those of us who were smart enough to not fall into the vortex tend to stick together! :)

I spent many of my formative years in Spanish Lake, so I am very familiar with that area, for better or worse. ;)

Nice intro post!!

I'm Vicki, originally from Newcastle, Uk moved to Ohio about 2 years ago. I also need to escape the mid-west..i'm not too sure how i'm still here other than my parents are here. I'm 24 and have BSc in biology but my work really doesn't have much to do with it.

I work in the AM at a horse barn cleaning stalls and generally loving on the horses and see my own baby phoenix and in the PM i work at my dads company making artificial legs and such.

I think it's true about patrick, he makes me feel like more of a woman than i ever have!! I'm single right now, mainly due to extreme social anxiety and bad past relationships.

I too have a great love of films and will watch pretty much anything. i also have an eclectic taste in music. I like dirty jokes and reading fan-fic. So anyway..that's my little into.. hello again!!

A prosthetics factory - that sounds like really interesting work. And working with horses, also cool.
