Okay ... there's a lot of new (and newer) musicians that I'm curious about, but I have no idea where to start when it comes to their music! To put it simply - I don't know what songs would be "first time listener" recommendations. I know, it sounds lame ... but, there it is. So, my lovelies, any help is most appreciated - I'll list the musicians, and you can recommend songs for me to get from iTunes! (Who knows, maybe some day, I can return the favor...)

Yeah Yeah Yeahs
The Gossip
Interpol
Goldfrapp

Any other recommendations are welcome! :-)

You found one of my weaknesses: music. Here's my opinion.

Yeah Yeah Yeahs-
The two big singles are (of course) "Maps" and "Gold Lion". Also check out "Miles Away", "Bang", "Modern Romance", and the hard to find "Date with the Night".

Gossip-
I personally like "Lily White Hands", "Don't Make Waves", "Sweet Baby", and the Le Tigre remix of "Standing in the Way of Control".

Interpol-
The big singles were "Evil" and "Slow Hands". My picks: "NYC", "C'mere", and "Stella Was a Diver and She Was Always Down".

Goldfrapp-
Not my favourite, but to each their own. Maybe try "Number 1", the M83 remix of "Black Cherry", "Strict Machine", or "Beautiful".

As for my suggestions:

Afghan Whigs - "Gentleman"
Arcade Fire - "Neighborhood #3 (Power Out)"
Badly Drawn Boy - "Once Around the Block"
Bright Eyes - "First Day of My Life"
My Morning Jacket - "Gideon"
New Pornographers - "Twin Cinema"
Old 97's - "The New Kid"
Elliot Smith - "Needle in the Hay"

I got plenty more where those came from ... if you like them.

Thanks for the suggestions! :)

I loved Afghan Whigs' - "Gentleman". Greg Dulli just laying his cards on the table and letting his woman know that he's a cad (especially on "Be Sweet").

With Old 97s - I had Fight Songs - great CD, but haven't listened to any of the CDs before or after that one. So, I'll have to check that out ... as well as Rhett Miller's solo work!

The other musicians kind of fall into the "I've heard a song or two ... but not too familiar otherwise" category! So, I'll be keeping quite busy, it seems!
