iPod question / problem ... anyone?

Before I go running to the Apple Store like a kid ready to snitch on her sibling ... I thought I'd bring up this iPod issue here - in case anyone else has had it, and knows the remedy.

This is the deal: My iPod has been skipping over a few songs - songs that it has played before with no problems.

(a) Is it something with the file itself?
(b) Should I burn the songs onto a CD, delete them from my computer, and then re-upload them?
(c) Is this an iPod problem, unrelated to the .mp3 or .aac files ... something that'll make me grateful that I have AppleCare on the damn thing?

That is interesting you bring that up. I don't have an iPod but rather a 1 gig Rio and I have noticed the same thing... previous songs that used to play perfectly are now skipping which doesn't make sense since it's a digital file... I thought maybe my headphones were going bad or something....

On my iPod, I have one sing that always skips, no matter how many times I re-rip it and put it on the iPod. It's the strangest thing and I can't figure out if it's the CD I ripped it from or something else.

Have you updated your iTunes and iPod lately?

I had the same problem. A few of my songs were shortened for no reason. Both on my iPod and in iTunes. I updated them with the latest versions at apple.com and everything is peachy keen again.

If that doesn't work, then maybe you should head to the Apple Store to see if they can fix the problem.

ok I have the same problem (*golf claps Carly for raising the issue*)...

but if you update your iPod software doesn't it erase the songs/playlists on there?

It didn't for mine.

I had the same question, but put through the update anyway. I figured that I could always link it back to iTunes and have everything re-uploaded.

that's fantastic! (cuz my comp has too too little space to keep all my music on iTunes)
