This is how I read when I'm trying to communicate with someone, while in that lovely post-seizure state. Yes, this is an e-mail that I'd sent to Kellie, after I had a seizure at work:

Post-Ictal:
Hi just when I though that things couldn’t go any worse better – I had ended up having a seizure at work. Which would explain why I’m having spelling … I’m doing okay – except for the headache, and having bitten my headache. :(

And no, I don’t think that the medication has failed – unfortunately, there’s not much that can be done about my seizures.

Carly

English Translation:
Hi - just when I thought that things couldn't get any worse, I ended up having a seizure at work! Which would explain why I'm having spelling troubles ... I'm doing okay - except for the headache, and having bitten my tongue. :(

And no, I don't think that the medication has failed - unfortunately, there's not much that can be done about my periods.

Carly

Thankfully, we're having a sense of humor over everything, especially the "having bitten my headache" line (my personal favorite). Also, Kellie noted that there were no spelling errors - just lots of grammar issues, obviously.

And aside from the bitten headache (or headache and bitten tongue, rather) I'm doing okay. I came home and took a nap - perhaps I will write more about the incident when I'm feeling more up to it.

oh, that sucks to have it happen at work....was it more mild than the "bathroom" incident at your home? How do you handle when it happens at work? do you have issues traveling home to rest and recouperate after one of these while you're not already at home??

...feel better soon

Yeah, it was actually more mild than the "bathroom" incident (when I was on Depakote) - and I wasn't as out of it, or dead to the world.

When it happens at work - this was the first time at my current office - I've usually had a couch to crash out on afterwards, or just gone about my routine as though nothing was wrong. Or, I'd go home and go to sleep - depending upon how serious the seizure was.

As for travel issues, I was able to contact Kellie and she came to get me right away, and we got a cab home from the office. Otherwise, that's why I wear my MedicAlert bracelet! :)

I'm glad that I'm not the only one sending those weirded-out e-mails/IMs to people!

I'm almost worried to see my e-mail notifying people that I was leaving work early because of my seizure (I was getting lucid ... but still!) - I don't think I mentioned anything about biting my headache, though. ;)

I'm not allowed to do an out of office after incidents like that... I tend to become a bit TOO honest.. I'd likely say something like:
I am currently out of this fucking office. Please e-mail she won't get back to you because she's a fucking lazy dumb ass. Thanks and have a great day!

Thankfully my "out of office" e-mail was much more lucid.

Although my voicemail was a bit Yoda-like ... hehe.

I'm doing much better - thanks!

Going home, taking some Aleve for the killer headache and getting some rest helped a lot. :)

So, a) Hugs to you. B) Should I be concerned that your e-mail made almost total sense to me?

Thanks for the hugs ... and as for the concerns, perhaps you're an AOL user? ;)

umm, I hope you don't mind, but I thought I'd glance at your lj, since you seemed so cool on [livejournal.com profile] metaquotes. We seem to have a lot of similarities. We work in insurance, we have seizures at work, and warped sense of humor! Do you mind if I friend you?

I don't mind at all!

Yay for new friends with warped minds and similar interests! :-D
