First: I love how obscure WebMD can be when it comes to drug information - especially for newer drugs. I went to look up the information on Keppra and under the section on how a drug work it says (I swear, I'm not making this up): It is not known how this drug works.

I suppose that sounds better than saying that it works by conjuring up black magick or Santeria rituals - or the more apt (and angsty), "fuck if we know - it just does."

Second: I've seen some of my friends posting their own mondegreens (mis-heard lyrics) in their blogs, so I'm going to post one that I have been guilty of for a long long time.

There's a kid's song called "My Bonnie Lies Over The Ocean", or something along those lines. It's sung like a sea shanty, and I would always sing it, "My Body lies over the ocean/ My Body lies over the sea ... Bring back, bring back, bring back my body to me, to me!"

Turns out that it's actually "My Bonnie lies over the ocean/ My Bonnie lies over the sea ... Bring back, bring back, bring back my Bonnie to me, to me!"

No matter what, I still prefer my version. Even if it is quite morbid.

When I first heard Great Big Sea's "Donkey Riding," I misheard the line, "Was you ever 'round Cape Horn?" as "Was you ever 'round gay porn?" Shows where my mind is ;)

Silly slash girl! ;)

I know what you mean, though. Sometimes, the dirtier versions of songs that we come up with in our own heads are more fun than the actual lyrics. *eg*

Got another one for you..

The other day we were listening to "The Metro" by Berlin. The line where she says, "Swimming through apologies" Lucas sang "Swimming through a pile of cheese."

lol - that's a good one, too!

Kind of obscure - but I like it! :)

I have troubles with certain BNL songs... we made up words for them and now when I'm in the car with people and BNL comes on I nearly ALWAYS sing the wrong words... it's *terrible*

I remember reading that about Keppra and freaked out... However I finally decided what the fuck does it matter how it works as long as it DOES work ya know? LOL I know that if they gave me the details of how some drugs work it would be greek to me (literally it might be greek!) so as long as they work it's all good:)

"She hasn't even heard them, since she found out what the words meant, she decided that she preferred them, all wrong!"

I remain convinced that line is about all the BNL misheard lyrics (and in my fantasy, it specifically refers to the very active Mr. Limes (misheard lines) page on my old site.

(I also remain convinced that it's actually "personal penis" and not "personal venus" in Yoko.)
