No Sir - I don't insure that

My lovelies - I like to think that you're all quite smart (okay, so some of you are smart ASSES - but I like that), so perhaps you could help me here.
I need/want a non-insurance-geek perspective on something. Just want to know how something reads to the general public, because I had a real doozy of a call recently.
On some of the applications that come in for our clients, there is a Privacy Policy. Basically, it states that your personal information is not shared with marketers - unless you specifically ask to have it passed around like a joint at a party. (Okay, that's not the exact wording ... but behind the cut, is.)
PRIVACY POLICY: I have received and read a copy of the "Company X Privacy Statement and Procedures". By submitting this application, I am applying for issuance of a policy of Insurance and, at its expiration, for appropriate renewal policies issued by Company X and/or other members of the XYZ group of insurance companies.
I understand and agree that any information about me that is contained in, or that is obtained in connection with, this application or any policy issued to me may be used by any company within the XYZ group to issue, review and renew the insurance for which I am applying.
I had a client that assumed that this was an offer for a Privacy (Insurance) Policy. I just wonder - how does one *insure* someone's privacy - and how would you put in a claim on that policy?
