Family Update - Part the Second

Since my last post on the family (in January), things have gone weird for my stepdad.

Now, I feel helpless. Being all these miles away from my family, and feeling like I can't support them in any way. Not that my being around physically would do much for them right now. I'm thinking of ways to help them, financially, or in other ways - because I know that they're struggling, since my mom is the only source of income.

Kellie and I are contemplating saving our money and offering to take Taylor for a few weeks this summer, so my parents can have some time to themselves. So my mom can have some time to not worry about having to be in 500 places at once. So she can focus on making sure that my stepdad gets better and healthier - and Taylor can have fun, and be a teenager for a few weeks.

And now, to lighten up a little bit ...

Shelter Kitty Drama!!

Really. It seems that at the shelter, the Alpha Male Cat, Zeus (mis-spelled "Zeuss" or "Zues" on the site) has been un-seated. By a younger, bitchy cat named Rico. Don't let the sweet façade fool you - Rico apparently served Zeus, when Zeus tried to show him who his daddy was in the Community Cat Room.

Zeus, ceding control - and his favorite green chair - backed down from terrorizing Rico, and resigned himself to tormenting the usual feline suspects.

And to make matters worse, Zeus' Kit-teen bitch ... pardon me, evil minion, Diego, has been adopted. So, he either has to make nice with the cats he'd terrorized in the past - or look for a new Kit-teen to do his evil bidding.

Unless Rico takes him away, my guess is that Zeus' new Minion will be: Miles.

Gonna scare the bejesus out of 'em all!

Earlier, I was playing "One" from Metallica's S&M CD - because I wanted to hear something that kind of expressed my frustration and angst and everything else over the whole situation with my stepdad.

Anyways - Teak was cool with the situation, as he usually is. Cleo, however, looked at me like, "Mommy ... why are you playing the scary music? What's wrong?"


After having my sing-along with Metallica, I put in the Keane CD, and Cleo got into my lap. So, I told the purring bundle of kitty goodness that I had the happy music on - and not to worry. :)
