Read A Banned Book - Or Have Someone Read To You :)

That's what I did last night. After enduring a visit to the dentist - oh joy of joys, I went to an LGBT Banned Books event at a local indie bookstore.

There is nothing more fun than hearing someone read from Sapphire's American Dreams and Alice Walker's The Color Purple in such a way that you'd almost want to make her your own personal Schererazade (I know, I probably totally wrecked the spelling of it ... sorry!); listening to a transman reading from Holly Hughes' Clit Notes - even he acknowledged the irony of it, yet still did an incredible reading (and I told him so); or hearing someone read sections from The New Joy of Gay Sex that had members of the audience nodding their heads in agreement or laughing at the memory of their past mistakes.

After that, I wanted to gather a group of friends and strangers together to read stories to them from my favorite erotica anthologies. "Breathing Lessons" by Eleanor Brown from Zaftig, anything by M. Christian, Zane, Carol Queen, Rachel Kramer Bussel (hope I spelled that right!), Susannah Indigo, Nicholson Baker or Kate Dominic.

It's just fun to read that stuff aloud - to myself. I'd love to get a chance to share it with a friend or lover at some point. :)

Letter I'd Never Send - Yet It's Fun As Hell to Write

Dear Steven Page ~

While you are truly one of my favorite daddy bears, I regret to inform you that your position is slowly being usurped.

You see, I've been cursed with a practically non-existent attention span, so I'm easily swayed by little - and not so little - things (sort of like Dory in Finding Nemo). Since you've been out of my view and stuck in the periphery - but still looking damn sexy, if I say so myself - another man has moved into your position as the center of my boy crush fantasies.

I'm sure you'd understand, and that when the Peep Show comes to my fair city on October 30th, you'll probably end up redeeming yourself to the point that I'd be almost begging to be in the middle of a Steven Page/Tyler Stewart Special. Until then, I'll stick with my girl, and a local guy. :)
