I had a witty subject in mind, but my brain ended up blanking out on me. :-/

Perhaps I'll think of a witty line for the next entry.

Anyways ... this has been an interesting week, that's for sure. And it all culminates in going to the wedding tomorrow afternoon. :) I'm really psyched about this - especially since this is the first "non-Mormon" wedding I've ever attended. I'm so used to simple ring ceremonies, followed up with receptions catered by Sam's/Costco/Your Wholesale Club Name Here in the Gym/ Cultural Hall, where I'd attended entirely too many youth dances growing up.

This is a Catholic wedding, without a Mass, as the Bride's parents aren't Catholic. Still, I'm definitely looking forward to it - and I think it'll be a lot of fun. I just have to do something about my nails - either file or trim them, then paint them; shave my legs and decide on which shoes to wear tomorrow. (You'd almost think I was within lying distance of being girly or something.) The definites are that I'll be wearing a swell Leslie Fay dress, and a Wacoal bra that I got very cheaply (along the lines of $14 for a $56 bra).

Anyways ... that's what's going on. The Lexapro is starting to kick in with the dry mouth side effect (blah), and I've been waking in the night - despite taking the Sonata. Ah well, it takes a few weeks for the meds to take effect, so I'll try to be patient and wait it out the best I can.

You know how I'd written up my absolutely mundane plans for the night? Well ... that got nicely up-ended by my essentially crashing a party being held by a salon in the building next to my office's.

It started innocently enough - I was leaving work, and on my way to the bank to deposit a check, when I walked past the salon and saw that they were having an Open House sort of get-together. So, I stopped in, with the intention of entering my name in the drawings for the assorted gift baskets, and to take a look at how what was once a conference room had been converted into a salon.

After doing that, one of the stylists said, "we've got food and drinks outside, if you want something." I didn't give in right away, instead I ended up discussing the Bed Head products with another stylist. Then, he and I ended up rooting through a basket of product samples (more like retail-sized containers, intended for stylists to try out before selling), checking out what was available.

I admit, I was a bad girl there ... coming away with a couple of bottles of shampoo & conditioner, a bottle of spray gel, and two jars of pomade and hair putty. But it was offered - as much as I'd want to take with me, and now I have enough hair products to last me into 2005, I'm sure.

Yes, I did end up going outside and hanging out, drinking Cokes and noshing a bit. I met several of the stylists - and had an invitation extended to come by after work some time to hang out & have a drink. I even got to formally meet someone I've worked in the same building with for years - that was very cool, because we ended up chatting and bonding, and he introduced me to a few of his friends. (We even found out that we live a block apart from each other - that was fun to find out.) So, I got to be a bit of a social butterfly this evening.

And, like I told Kellie - the fag hag in me was having a great time, hanging out with gay guys all over the place. It reminded me of college days, when some of my really good times were spent hanging out with my gay guy friends.

Such a fun time - and what really made it cool was that I was hanging around with people I looked at as being cool, and not once did they make me feel like I didn't belong there. Granted, I didn't feel like I fit in 100%, but I did feel a degree of acceptance for once. That was a good feeling. :)

Now, I'm going to get a late-night snack, because I wasn't very hungry at the party ... and now, I am! And finally, since several lj friends are doing this - the Simpsons version - I wanted to try it, too. But it's Dilbert Style for me, baby!

I AM ALICE!!!
