I'm feeling creatively dead right now. My desire to write has gone "kaput" and my libido is still waning, much to my dismay. (Yes, those that know me, you could throw me into a pit of Barenaked Ladies - and bare, naked ladies - and I'd have a hell of a time working up any desire to pounce anyone. Talk politics, music, work, books, etc., yes. Get fucked (and fuck others) senseless - not happening.)

Honestly, I think it may have something to do with that paucity of good smut available. The only current story going is that nevereverending Mary Sue epic (and it's like fanfic Kudzu - started with good intentions (I think), and now has grown out of control). Honestly, the ONLY author I know of that can write a story with almost 100 chapters & keep my interest is Tom Robbins. And he just rocks my world with his complex, out-there characters. :) And the writer of this particular Mary Sue wet dream ain't Tom Robbins. {[livejournal.com profile] cinderjewel, I joined & like [livejournal.com profile] marysues ... but there's no way I'd subject any of them to this one - unless they want to farm through about 105 chapters of Mary Sue-ism at its masturbatory finest. Hell, even I gave up after Chapter 10.}

Anyways, to counteract the lack of decent smut - and the dreck populating the board - I've just started reading Kate Dominic's erotica collection Any Two People, Kissing. So far, it's a great book, with a variety of couplings and scenarios - a little bit of everything for everyone. The basic idea behind the book is simple, yet quite sexy when you think about it: "What's the hottest thing you've ever seen? Two people, kissing like they mean it." Yummy.

p.s. to Jody ... through the dearth of stories on the board, I've been reading stuff written months ago. Between KHR's story, "Anna Anastasia" and your story, "The Attraction", I may risk having the neighbors wondering about the noise coming from upstairs. :-x (thanks for giving me something to keep my dirty mind going!!)

Gee, it must be nice to exist in a permanent state of homeostasis in your collective peabrains. A cozy little microcosm where no one changes or evolves. Where everyone stays as they were ten years ago. People never disappoint you by having the nerve to speak their minds on what's going on around them.

You know, it would be nice if we could all remain in a static place in life - things would be a hell of a lot more consistent - but it's not gonna happen anytime soon. And to express disappointment because someone is different from who and/or what they were 10 years ago ... that they said they'd be one way, only to seem to go against it years later. Guess what, that's bullshit. And it risks sounding obsessive and stalker-ish on your part.

Perhaps I'm just used to inconsistency and shape-shifting in my life, to the point that I expect it, rather than being disappointed by others for engaging in it. I don't think many of us are the same people we were ten years ago - let alone five years ago, or even a year ago. Besides, you know, it would be absolutely boring if someone were *exactly* as they were years ago. It would feel monotonous.

Oh wait. Then you'd have something else to complain about. If it's not the swearing, the near homoeroticism or just having the chutzpah to be human beings. You'd be whining that they're boring. That it's the same thing all the time - why can't they try something different?

What are you gonna do? Wash their mouths out with soap for saying "fuck" or admitting to watching porn?

Just because you're in abject denial over your own human-ness, stuck in a state of disbelief that others are allowed to be sexual - and allowed to express it however they damn well please, doesn't mean that you should feel a need to foist that mentality onto others outside of yourself.

Do us all a fucking favor and get a fucking clue. ;)
