{After a while of debate, someone asked, "What if BNL was asking you to stop file-sharing?"}

Personally, I won't be re-thinking my stance. Especially since all I'd ever downloaded were obscure "Live-only" songs and songs from out-of-print CDs. If I want the entire CD - isn't that what used CD shops are for? I may not download random MP3s much anymore - but I'll defend the right for people to do it.

Am I going to have the members of Ned's Atomic Dustbin, or Bryan Ferry and Alison Moyet beating down my door for getting one of their songs online? Probably not.

I still stand by my opinion that the RIAA is looking for a reason to bitch and moan because people aren't buying s**t music - and aren't standing for being charged almost $20 for a CD with only ONE song that they like.

And if BNL are truly anti-file-sharing, that almost smacks of hypocrisy, when you think about it. Especially if they're against the fans having access to the obscure B-sides that are only avaliable on the CD singles released in Zambia (wild exaggeration, I know). But you get the idea, right?

Am I going to have to worry about the Karma Police, the RIAA, and variegated musicians hunting me down for dubbing copies of CDs onto tapes to share with my friends and family? Or how about those swell mix tapes I always made in college? Considering that sharing those tapes may have triggered a desire in people to get more of the music - and actually purchase entire CDs (what a novel concept!!), I doubt anyone will be losing sleep anytime soon.

The whole RIAA "Red Scare" will blow over soon, I think. Like I said, they had their panties in a bunch years ago over the availability of blank cassette tapes - and blank cassette tapes are still around.

As for the artists getting their panties in a bunch - they've obviously got too much time and money on their hands if they're whining about this. I have three words for them: Metallica vs. Napster.

Enjoy the backlash!

{And, oh yeah, Hello ... I'm almost 30!! If I still allow an artist's preferences & such to dictate MY preferences & such, then I really have a fucking problem. So let them shoot themselves in the foot by alienating their fan bases. Like I fucking care anymore at this point.}
