Alton Brown rocks my girlie soul. I already have a serious thing for smart men - but a smart man that can cook, and tell me all kinds of information about the food he's preparing ... well, my heart's all a-flutter now!

If you have cable, and can get The Food Network, check out Good Eats sometime my lovelies. Sure, it's still re-runs from the past couple of years - but I love that it's giving me a chance to learn about food: How to cook it, where it comes from, what you should look for in the cooking utensils to prepare the food. Even the biology/botany/chemistry of various foods.

So yes, I *heart* Alton Brown and his somewhat geeky ways. I love that I can watch a show about food/cooking and come away feeling quite smart. That he presents everything intelligently - but never in a way that makes you feel utterly confused, or talked down to. He makes cooking and food fun, which it should be.

I'm embarrassed to admit that I also really like Good Eats.

I'm also embarrassed to admit that my brain for some reason read:

I love that I can watch a show about food/cooking and come away feeling quite smart.

I love that I can watch a show about food/cooking and come.

I'm sure it's just the way that the page was formatted...

Yeah, I think it was the formatting. No Freudian slips about Alton yet! ;)

And don't be embarrassed by your mind occasionally slipping into the gutter. Happens to me a lot.

Oh yeah - have you read either of his books yet? I'm Just Here For The Food and Gear - good eats and good reading!

I'm in Nerdvana from that alone...

I haven't read the books! Are they worth it?

I like Anthony Bourdain a great deal. His books are really good and very sarcastic.

I'm Just Here For The Food was an excellent book, and Gear was mainly about the varieties of cooking apparatuses (apparati-?).

And I like Anthony Bourdain as well - Kitchen Confidential was an awesome book. I haven't read any other books of his yet ... but I should at some point!

Oh yeah - I always thought Mr. Wizard was the coolest.

Kellie got me hooked on Alton Brown - and Good Eats - so I guess this her paying me back for getting her into Jimmy Fallon or something. ;)
