Well, this is one hell of a way to spend Christmas day - my stepdad's having trouble breathing, so a call to the doctor later, and he's on his way to the ER. By now, he should have a Frequent Hospital Vistors card or something. We're thinking (and hoping) that it may only be pneumonia - and may only merit an ER visit, no admission, but G*d forbid, if it does require an overnight, I can get to work from here, as my family is in town.

Anyways, besides that ginormous bump in the road, it's been a pretty decent holiday, all in all. After work, I got together with my fam, and we went to the movies to see Elf, then went home to open presents and have dinner. (The original plan was to have dinner, and then open presents, but my stepdad wasn't feeling 100%, so we reversed it.)

I took pictures of everyone opening their presents - for a simple Christmas, we all still had a wonderful time together, and that's the most important thing. :) Everyone got what they'd wanted, and I got what I'd asked for (Finding Nemo and Cowboy Bebop - The Movie), along with a few extras - gift cards for Target and Panera Bread, a hand-knitted scarf from my mom, and 20 years later - a Cabbage Patch Kid (at the time of their popularity, I apparently told my mom that I wanted one, but that I didn't want her to get hurt by another mom trying to get the doll for me!).

Today, my brother and I went to see our dad & his family, which went quite well. Meaning, no bloodshed, no insults hurled at him (from me), and the Christmas gift of Guilt Money was accepted without being sarcastic or snarky. I know that they mean well - it just kind of bothers me that it feels like they're trying to recompense for years ago with money. :-/

Well, the Young One is starting to give me The Evil Eye^tm, so I should wrap things up here so she can get online and talk to her friends. Hope you're all having a MERRY CHRISTMAS!
