Christmas Miracle (Another Family Update)
Dec. 17th, 2003 01:22 pmI just got off the phone with my mom a few minutes ago, and she had some very very good news about my stepdad - for once.
He'd spoken with his nephrologist today, and found out that since his kidney function is up to 21%, he can stop the dialysis.
This is such wonderful news, especially since the doctors thought that he'd have to be on dialysis for the rest of his life. They certainly weren't expecting to find that his kidney function was going up - and I don't think any of us were expecting it, either!
Now, I'm crying because I'm happy - instead of crying because I'm sad or frustrated. Right now, I'm just so overjoyed, I don't know what to say, except that I am so grateful.
I was grateful that he's gotten past the hurdles he has - but this one is an especially big hurdle to overcome.
