Nothing's Shocking?

Kellie made the comment that "I imagine it takes a lot to gross you out when it comes to sexual stuff."

It might read that way, but the truth is ... I can be a bit squeamish.

Watching Pink Flamingos last weekend, there were parts of that film that had me damn near ready to put my hands over my eyes.

I have a hard time watching porn because I'm uncomfortable with the idea of watching people having sex.

Some of the stuff I write about is an exercise for me in working out the issues I have with taboo subjects.

The idea of telling a partner, "I'd like to try ..." or "How about...?" makes me a nervous mess.

In the stories I write, people are unafraid. They're willing to expand their horizons, try new, subversive things. They actually have fun during sex. (Not that I haven't had fun, mind you ... it's the being unafraid & horizon-expanding.)

So, yeah, I guess that means that through my stories, I'm doing the "fake it 'til you make it" thing with some of the more taboo sexual topics.

Well, I am totally there with you... I wouldn't say I'm sexually squeamish, there is nothing wrong with my imagination; it's more like I'm timid in real life. I've resolved to try and be a lot less timid with my next partner, communicate better and try more stuff.
