Concert News :^D
Oct. 31st, 2003 09:34 amThe concert last night was phenomenal. I personally loved every minute of it ... even if Taylor and I were sitting/standing next to a couple of guys that give good Stunties a bad bad name. You probably know the types: all they want is to hear "Alcohol" and they kept shouting out "we wanna party with you, Ed!" Before the night's end, Taylor and I both wanted to slap them around.
I know from my friends' experiences that they've been in GA sections for the concerts, and with this particular venue, I was concerned it would be the same thing. Thankfully, it wasn't - we were 5th row center, straddled between Steve and Ed side, in uncomfortable chairs (not that it matters, because we were standing pretty much the entire time).
The show was great - loved hearing the new album live. Lar
pseudoswede, you'd be happy to know that Ed and Steve had a banter about Ted Drewes Frozen Custard, and Kevin wore a Ted Drewes hat during the acoustic set. :)
Even my stupid question was answered in a roundabout way ... heh. Ed commented that he was dressed as Steve, Steve said that he was dressed as Kevin, and Jim said that he was dressed as Tyler. ;)
They played "Roadrunner", "Grim Grinning Ghosts", "Everything Old Is New Again", "Enid" (with an audience member on drums & Ty on percussion) and "What A Good Boy", in addition to the usual suspect songs.
After the show, we did wait for the band with about 15 - 20 other people, and got to meet everyone but Ed. (Taylor was quite disappointed, as you can probably guess!)
Jim came out first, signed autographs & talked with the fans for a few minutes. Taylor had me ask if she could get a picture with him, so I got a picture of them together.
Kevin came out a little while later (with Fin), signed autographs and talked briefly. About 20 minutes after that, Steve and Ty came out together & came down to see the fans. Taylor got her picture with Steve as well as a picture and autograph from Tyler. I got Steve and Ty to sign my cassette copy of Gordon, as well as a picture with Steve. (Good news is, I didn't make an ass of myself around Steve - I was quite proud of that.)
Unfortunately, a couple of girls were a bit overzealous in their attempt to get to Steve, and they pushed Taylor out of their way, which pissed her off. What pissed me off was someone that obviously wasn't a fan getting a concert t-shirt signed: after getting Steve to sign it, she says to him "could you give it to the drummer to sign?" I just looked at her and said, "The drummer has a name - it's Tyler", conveniently leaving out "dumb bitch", considering the present company.
While Taylor was upset that Ed didn't come out (he'd left for the airport immediately post-show), she was very happy to have met the others ... and I think she's slowly but surely realizing that Steve's a cool guy, because in the car going home, she said "I like Steve's glasses" and "he's my 2nd favorite". :)
