Just when I was about to write myself off as having been a total goody-goody until I got to College, I was thinking about some of the things I got into in high school. I mean, besides stalking boys and lusting after Jordan Knight.

I remember having a crush on a guy named Shawn in grade 10. He was friends with my über-cool friend, Chris, who ended up being my "in" with Shawn. Anyways, I had no classes with Shawn, because he was a year younger, and we didn't really see each other in the halls much. So, I came up with the idea to skip my biology class in order to have lunch with him. It was quite easy, actually. The teacher was asleep for some of the classes (especially during films), or doing the crossword during tests, so I was able to skip that class once a week to hide out in the bathrooms until the 2nd lunch period.

Of course, as high school crushes go, it went nowhere. He moved out of town, and I moved onto other crushes, of course. Still, it was kind of fun to do that sort of thing, and feel like I was getting away with something.

And oh yeah, I also seemed to have forgotten my beginnings in the smut realm. The most pathetic, treacly, naïve stories ever written were penned by me. Then again, we all have to start somewhere. Even if it's with a sex education courtesy of the school organ recitals, Skinimax, Everything You Always Wanted to Know About Sex* (*But Were Afraid to Ask), friends' equally bad smut, and The Happy Hooker.

So, while I may have a tendency to write myself off as having been so boring, pathetic and such in high school - it was really just me developing into an emo-core geek girl type. What else can you become when your best friends are transient, and ran the gamut of "prettier than you", "white trash", "future ex-girlfriend" and "had as many issues as TIME magazine"?

Meh, as I get older and evolve, I stop malingering on the bad things and the negativity, and instead get a kick out of my attempts at fitting in, finding my niche and eventually throwing my hands up in resignation and deciding instead to revel in my geeky nature - trying to read The Satanic Verses, Naked Lunch and Voltaire (none of which I could comprehend) in high school and all.
