In that sporadic tradition o'mine - you know, writing letters to people that will never see them - I have another one to be written. To get an idea of what the hell I'm talking about in today's letter, read this first: Steve's Rant, then click here ...

Dear Steve:

Reading your entry in today's blog, I was a bit taken aback by the tone ... but realized that what you were saying is probably what I'd say in a similar situation. Except, I'd probably be more inclined to let emotion override & tell people to kiss my ass, rather than being as subtle (and mature) as you were.

It's sad that a few small-minded people were getting their panties in a twist over your opinions in *your* band's blog. Perhaps they'd forgotten that if it were them - and their blog, and someone said that they didn't like reading the less-than-150%-happy stuff ... they'd be highly pissed.

I don't know ... I just know that reading what you had to say really did resonate with me for some reason. Perhaps because you were acknowledging the blog for what it is - a forum to speak your mind about whatever is on your mind. We're human - no matter who (or what) we are in life, and G*d knows, we've got our opinions about every damn thing in the world.

Sure, there are people that want the everyday minutiae - nothing wrong in that. But it's just a matter of accepting that with the everyday minutiae, you're going to get a dose of reality as someone else knows it. You're going to get opinions - good, bad, indifferent, you'll get the stellar moments and the sour times. Last I checked, that's just how everyday existence works.

So thank you for speaking out and being honest with us. There are a few of us in the world that still appreciate honesty and others' opinions. And I'd like to think that I'm one of those people.

Signed,
Carly

Now, for that everyday minutiae:

I spent last night unable to get to sleep until almost 2 a.m., agonizing over tax forms - where they were, would they be coming before Tuesday, how much do I owe, would I get anything back ... are they thinking of me? ;)

So, after calling the accountant that's handling the taxes (very long story there - maybe I'll tell it someday), I had them sent to the office via courier (yay!) and got them signed, paid the State (the Feds owe me money), sealed and mailed out at lunchtime.

Anyways, after that battle with insomnia, I've decided that I would be best off skipping my OA meeting tonight (bad, I know ... but my physical health depends on it) in favor of getting to be early tonight. Otherwise, another sleepless night could put me at risk of a seizure from sleep deprivation. Which would be far worse than missing a meeting.

That's about all that's going right now. I'll probably think of more later. I mainly wanted to post my response to the blog. :)

Have a good evening everyone!

Dear Carly,

Regarding your note to Steve, will you marry me?

Love and other squishy stuff,
Hols :)

p.s. I'll also propose to your girlfriend, if that will cause less trouble. ;)
