Water does a body good
Aug. 20th, 2002 10:30 pmAfter work, I came home, grabbed up my bathing suit & a towel - and headed off to the community center. :)
It was very nice - not very many people there, save for a water aerobics class - and I stayed for almost 2 hours, swimming about and just forgetting everything that was on my mind today.
It's good exercise - no impact on my joints, helped my spasm-y shoulder muscles to relax, didn't aggravate my ankle. Only problem I had was when I stepped into the hot tub & started itching like a mofo immediately afterwards. I ended up scratching my skin pretty hard - and I wasn't even in there 5 minutes. :(
I could get into swimming a few times a week. It's a good way to get back into the exercise groove - and it's something I *like* doing. I do plan on using the fitness center, but I want to get my ankle healed and do something about my shoulder first. (I'd hate to worsen any of it. That would really suck.)
When I go to the internist next week, I'll bring up my left ankle angst - as well as the heel spur in my right foot. (Damned Retail Hell battle wounds!!) And hopefully soon, I'll be getting my new skates sharpened and sealed (meaning a sealant on the leather boot), so I can use those! I'm looking forward to Adult Skate at the ice rink near work ... and in the winter, skating at the outdoor rink that's only a few blocks from the office. :)
But for now, I think I'm going to go to bed. Almost 2 hours of swimming has worn me out.
