Just a bit of advice - whether you want it or not. :^P

If an insurance company says that they're not going to renew your account, do NOT turn in 'one last claim' to spite them. Being immature and pissy towards a company only makes you look bad. Besides, it makes you a morale hazard - which is like a scarlet letter on your insurance record.

I only say this because I've had a few people turn in what I call "spite claims" - their way of getting back at the company for cancelling their policy. "If they're gonna cancel me, I'll turn in this claim for a lot of money - I'll show THEM!" seems to be what they're thinking.

What's really bad is that one client that did the spite claim thing apparently turned in a claim on something that should've been taken care of probably months ago (due to a broken pipe or connector on the washing machine)- instead, he let it foment and turn into a huge water damage/mold claim. Lovely. And yes, I did indicate on the claim notice that it was something that developed over time. Hey, he said it - and I'm doing my job by reporting it.

I want to round up the Spite Claimants and whomp them in their heads with a big fucking All-Clad pan. But I think that the scarlet letter on their insurance records is karmic retribution enough.
