TGIF ... I think.
Jan. 10th, 2003 05:15 pmThis morning started out well enough. Got into work on time, had a decent meeting with the Personal Lines department, managed to get some business moved for a client, stayed on top of things ... then the office got a collective suckerpunch. Well, mainly my department.
Our Data Entry gal/ Jill of All Trades quit today. No real notice, just an e-mail this afternoon announcing her resignation effective immediately. God, I really had the wind knocked out of me with that one. Apparently she wasn't happy - and hadn't been for a long time, which is a shame. I know that she was offered opportunities to move up, but passed on them, but I didn't think it was that bad.
What does this mean? That our department gets to function with one less person for the time being, and we're all picking up the slack in one way or another. I'll be trained on billing, and will be paid overtime for doing the extra hour (or so) a night of work to get the billing done.
Still, the way I'm feeling is almost indescribable. It's just wierd. If nothing else, the fact that I've been called in to do the extra work is a vote of confidence, and puts my paranoid little mind to rest for a while.
Since I'm at work, I should get home ... and I'll post some more stuff, to make up for lj's being down last night, when I was feeling all prolific and pissy.

Date: 2003-01-10 09:03 pm (UTC)Well.. You'll have something else to add to your resume and the overtime will be spiffy in your check at least. Assuming you have something to save it for that is.
<< silly
And no. I don't think you have anything to worry about at work. From everything you've told me... they have nothing but faith, confidence and trust in you.
(as well they should, btw)
