Sorry I haven't been around in about a billion years - kind of got wrapped up in Twitter and Facebook! So, I should probably give an update on the family.

My sister is still very pregnant - today is her due date, actually. The past couple of weeks, she's been having intermittent Braxton-Hicks contractions with nothing happening. The other day, it was found out that she is finally dilating. Granted, she's been at 1 cm for the past couple of days, but it's progress. If there is no baby by next Friday, she's being induced to bring a new munchkin into the world!

Don't know if I'd mentioned it, but she is having a girl - to be named Rylee Marie. (I'm thinking that the "Rylee" is her way of adding her late dad's middle name (Lee) into the baby's name) So yeah, Kellie and I are waiting (somewhat) patiently for the word that we are officially aunties!

My brother and sister-in-law are in the process of adopting a baby - they've told the church's Social Services organization that they are not very picky about the baby. They want a child under 2 years old, race and gender don't matter. I kind of love that idea, knowing that my mom would probably freak out over the idea of having to tell people, "This is my black granddaughter/grandson". This may be another year or so process, so I'm keeping them in my thoughts, hoping that they'll have a munchkin of their own as well!

As for me ... I've been having some nasty problems with TMJ. Lots of grinding and clenching to where it felt like I had a toothache in a root canalled tooth.

Having had the dentist and one of her assistants telling me that I've been fortunate in that I haven't broken a tooth like quite a few of their patients have done, I felt kind of fortunate.... Then, a couple of weeks ago, I broke a tooth. While eating Frosted Flakes (Yes, I said FROSTED FLAKES) at work.

Got an appointment with the dentist for the next day to get examined - and was told that my tooth had broken "the right way", meaning that I still had part of my tooth and it didn't break down to the root. Then, they took an X-Ray and found that part of my tooth had broken below the gum line. Which meant that I had to have surgery before I could get a crown put on my tooth.

So the other day, I had my surgery. I was scared shitless by the whole idea of surgery, so I took 10 mg of Valium an hour or so before my appointment, which helped. I felt kind of loosey-goosey and relaxed. Then, add in the laughing gas, and I was very, very relaxed. To where I almost fell asleep during the procedure. (Really) Also it helped a lot that the surgeon talked to me for about a half-hour before the procedure, to let me know what would be happening - as well as talking about St. Louis (he went to Washington University for Dental School) and iPhones.

Afterwards, I was given a diet recommendation for about the first week or so. The first two days, I was on a pretty much all liquid diet with some very soft foods. Translation - my diet was bottles of Ensure, cottage cheese, applesauce and baby food (fruit flavors). Today I was able to start eating some more substantial foods - i.e.; pasta, chicken cut into little pieces, cheese, non-citrus fruits, fish and steamed vegetables. I'm not allowed caffeine, carbonated drinks, citrus fruits and juices (acidity), or using straws. Admittedly, I feel like a weirdo asking for a spoon instead of a straw at Jamba Juice!

My mouth is still sore on the left side (operated on side) - especially on the roof where I'd gotten the novocaine shots; and today I tried eating some of the more substantial foods - fruit, pasta and chicken - only to end up with a sore mouth! :-(

So that's my life right now. How about you all? How's life treating you? Hopefully better than it is for me!
