This morning, while playing "nurse" for Kellie (she'd gotten a scrape on her finger from a bottle cap), she said that I'm "Female Mormon Nice". :-)


The "Mormon Nice" comment comes from an article in the current BUST magazine about Mormon feminists - one of the women interviewed said, "we're not just Mormon Nice ... but Female Mormon Nice. And that's a lot of nice."

I was trying to show off and be cool for this boy in the office who has a nerdy crush on me, and I ended up making a jackass of myself. We were celebrating our recent 6 Maggie award wins (I work at a magazine) and he opened a bottle of Anchor Steam beer with a bottle opener, and I was making fun of him cause it's a twist off cap. He said something along the lines of "oh yeah, well, let me see YOU do it!" so I grabbed a bottle out of the cooler (with ice in it, thus the bottle and cap were wet) and attempted to take the cap off. Instead, the bottle slid in my hand and the edge of the metal cap cut my finger. I played it off cool, though. I used my shirt (which seemed to surprise him that I was that butch about it) and tried to cover up the fact that i was bleeding.

Anyway, yes, Carly is a very good nurse. Were it not for the needles thing, she could make it a profession.

This drinking was occuring at work? Because I want your job if you have beer at work.

I hope so, who knows. He's one of those nerdy boys who never really learned to talk to girls and so he gets kinda shy around me and I like to play with that. That probably sounds mean and wrong, but it's mostly innocent.

Yes, we were drinking at work. It's not a regular thing (both in terms of it happening often and in terms of it happening for no special reason), but we've been known to break open some wine and beers when we're celebrating something.

It doesn't sound mean and wrong at all. I totally know what you mean. I have definitely done the exact same thing.

Well, even if it doesn't happen often, it still sounds pretty cool. My work made me sign a paper saying I wouldn't even get drunk at the company Christmas party! Granted, that rule is very much not enforced, but still...
