After my mishap with the razor (see the prior entry), I'm a bit apprehensive about using a razor on *any* body part ... even my underarms.

Now, I've been getting my brows waxed on a monthly (or so) basis for at least the past year or so. So that's no problem - just go in, present your lovely, smiling face, get the monobrow and beginnings of a mustache ripped off ... and there you go.

But, how does one handle anything else? I'm talking underarms, mainly.

Legs, I'd probably have to let it all grow back for several days (hello, long pants!) and take 300 Advil beforehand.

Bikini area, I'd start conservative, as I'm a major, major wus.

And how long does the waxing last?

I've had people suggest Nair - but it doesn't work on me, unfortunately. :-/ I've tried the DIY waxing kits (usually Sally Hansen or whatever) ... although the Bliss Poetic Waxing set would almost be a better alternative.

Thank you! :-D

I wish I knew about the legs/underarms/bikini area. I *hate* shaving... I have limited shower time anyways (I never wake up early) so darn it shaving is not a priority.
*waits for others to reply*

I say this with all possible love and respect.

You cut yourself shaving. BFD. Get over it. Not the end of the world.

However, if you must begin with body waxes, go to a reputable salon (not the back of some poorly lit nail salon) to have it done. Relax Now has a waxing menu and I'm sure that other salons/spas do as well.

I'm sure that I'll get over it, hon. I've gotten over similar shaving traumas in the past ... heh.

But what's to stop a girl from considering waxing something - if only to give into her masochistic side? (Oh yeah ... that's why I work in insurance. Never mind.)

wax = pain + more $
shaving = no pain + less $

that's all, that's all

I can't remember the name of the product, but it's from Australia and green and you can buy it at Walgreens. I used that for a while. And most of my leg hair doesn't grow back.

I can't for the life of me remember the name of the stuff though. There were even infomercials about it.

Now I remember. Nads. http://www.nads.com

It's pretty cheap and you don't have to bare all to Joe Schmoe.

Nads didn't work for my ex-girlfriend. I even tried to use it on her.

waxing tends to last for almost two months, for me atleast, but i've been doing it since i was in sixth grade- since my mother's quite obsessive, so i dont notice the pain
