Never a dull moment

No siree ... not in San Francisco - especially not while riding the bus to work this morning!

Case in point: One particular stop was at Turk and Hyde - right in the heart of the Tenderloin area. Great neighborhood - if you're looking for a crackwhore, or like to watch people dealing with their DTs and coming down from crystal and smack highs.

Anyways, the bus stops, and a good number of people get off. While the back door is splayed wide open, one of the more colorful people walks up to the doors and shouts "Everybody put your hands up and give me $29.00!". Then he walks off and laughs.


I dunno ... kind of hard to put credence in the threats of someone whose weapons of choice are a carton of whole milk and a Hostess Honey Bun.

We have a very colorful neighborhood too.

One day, Lucas was out taking Iggy for a walk on one of the first days we had him and he ran into one of our more friendly neighbors downstairs and they were chatting about the dog and the dog police around here.

This woman comes up to them and demands to know where Colfax is, so he points her in the direction (2 blocks away) and continues talking to the neighbor. Then the woman kinda smiles and nods about the conversation their having then puts and arm around the neighbor and looks at Lucas and says, "This woman would REALLY LIKE to go on a date with you."

Then she started rambling and wandered off.

Oh man, tell me about it. I live on the perimeter of Cheesman park. When I walk my dog... let's just say, colorful people galore. Many of them are fun and harmless, but every so often I get one that just gets right in my face. They usually disappear when I reach into my pocket. I don't have mace, but I can pretend.

I still love my neighborhood and wouldn't change it for the crown jewels and Bill Gates' fortune.

Hehee,I live in the Baker Neighborhood and we have the same problem. Usually a harmless drunk, but you can never be too careful.
