I've got a new friend (or two)

Meet Harley - one of my new friends:

I went into her run today, just to visit with dogs that I hadn't had a chance to hang out with - and Harley was one of those dogs.
I sat down on the floor with her, and she got right into my lap, and started to cover me in puppy kisses! I knew then that I had a new canine friend. Would've taken her for a walk - but she's a bit of a trouble-maker, so she's still on staff-only for the time being.
My other new friend, Zackery, doesn't have his picture posted yet - but he's a sweet Chihuahua mix. I'd go into the "Dog Community" to see the dogs, and week after week, he'd be in his run, barking away at every human that walked past.
Since he didn't have any restrictions, I thought I'd take him for a walk. With the heat today, it was a short one, but he did well - doing the usual boy dog thing of marking up *everything* in sight by peeing on it. (As Dave Barry had put it - show a guy dog anything, and he'll pee on it - including the Eiffel Tower.)
Otherwise, he was friendly towards me, and when I came to visit him post-walk, he got into my lap and gave me a couple of kisses. According to one of the shelter managers, since Zack is kind of a shy dog, the fact that he'd get into your lap and give you kisses is a sign that he likes you and thinks you're a friend. :-)
So, those are my new canine friends. Perhaps if the weather is good, and I can eke out some time, I'm going to try and go to the shelter to take a dog or two out for a walk!
