These recipes were found on (and promptly filched from) the [livejournal.com profile] veggieslackers community. Seriously good Vege eats. :-)

These recipes are repeated as they were written - and the culinary minds behind them have been credited accordingly.

Borrowed from [livejournal.com profile] rwblackbird:

Ingredients
-a couple handfuls of dried cranberries
-a can of mandarin oranges
-2.5 cups of whole wheat flower
-4 tablespoons of margarine
-4 tablespoons of brown sugar
-1.5 tablespoons of baking soda
-a sprinkle of salt

Directions

-Preheat oven to 350°C
-Melt the margarine in bowl number one
-Mix the flower and the baking soda in bowl number two
-Add sugar and a dash of salt to the margarine and mix very well
-Strain the oranges, save the juice
-Alternate between adding the orange juice and margarine mix to the -flower
-Mix it up really well
-Chuck in the cranberries
-With a knife, mutilate the oranges into small chunks of mushiness
-Mix the oranges into it all
-Put good sized chunks on to a baking sheet
-And bake until done!

Slice in half. Spread with margarine. And eat.

Borrowed from [livejournal.com profile] itshipstertime:

Tomato Sauce (anything but the cheesy kind, really)
2 packages of frozen ravioli, thawed (takes around an hour on the counter)
Shredded mozzarella cheese
Dried or fresh parsley (chopped if fresh)
Fresh baby spinach (optional but delicious!)

Preheat oven to 375°F. In a 9 inch square pan, spread some of the tomato sauce around in the bottom. Put down a layer of ravioli. Then a layer of sauce. Then a layer of spinach. Then a layer of ravioli, and so on until there is no more ravioli. Finish with a layer of sauce and sprinkle some cheese over the top. Sprinkle a bit of parsley over that. Bake until the top is beginning to brown, about half an hour.

And if you need inspiration to prepare those good eats, I present linkage to Mr. Good Eats himself, Alton Brown, in a Utilikilt: Hello Sailor! (Hey, it was that, or his Speedo shot ... hehe)

Anyways, enjoy the recipes - and have fun!

Why can't all men wear kilts? ;)

Thank you! I borrowed it from someone either on the Non Sequitur comic RSS feed, or the [livejournal.com profile] boondocks_comic community - thought it was too funny to not use myself! :)

And I like yours, too! Bucky cracks me up.

Good question. If they all looked as good as Alton Brown - or your kilted man - then I'd have no problem with men in kilts ... lol

Isn't he? I just love a man with the chutzpah to wear a kilt - and look damn good doing it, too!

Oh yes. I have a definite weak spot for kilts.

I saw this guy at home depot the other day wearing a utilikilt. And on top of that, he had a shaved head, a goatee, and a flowy gothic shirt on. He was in line before me at the paint counter and he asked the guy for dark navy blue paint.

Sigh... Kilts.

i'm making alton cookies today in honor of hurricane charley. i'm hoping his rains and winds will spare us. cookies are a surefire way to guarantee high velocity projectiles won't fly through our windows and roof, right? ;)
