I wish I were kidding...

This afternoon, we took Teak (our black cat) to the vet for a check-up and bath. It seemed like things were going well, the vet came in and told us that Teak was doing well with his bath, that they would dry him off and meet us out front with a clean cat in his carrier. Instead, we got called back into the exam room and told that while Teak was being dried off, his heart stopped. Despite the efforts of CPR from two vets and two vet techs; intubation and injections of epinephrine, he did not survive.

He was brought into the exam room for us to see him, and it just felt so strange. Looking at him, we both swore that we'd seen him move. We said our last good-byes to him, told him that we loved him and then he was taken back to be prepared for cremation.

We still have Cleo - and Lord only knows how he'll react when he realizes that Teak is gone. Really gone.
