What A Difference A Day Makes
Jun. 16th, 2004 01:16 pmIt's interesting how my clothes can affect my demeanor. Or, rather, how a change of environment and losing about 30 lbs. can affect my demeanor.
Since I was running seriously low on clothing, and wearing whatever rock bottom remainders in my closet (anything that is clean and still fits somewhat well) were available, I ended up in a black floral print dress that I'd brought from St. Louis.
The dress was about one or two sizes too big, has practically no shape to it, and is mid-calf length. I won't even begin to go into how long it's been in my wardrobe - because even I don't remember. I just know that by the day's end, I was feeling seriously frumpy. Like I was a stereotypical librarian, in that dress and my Roots Canada Olympics jacket - my only concessions to having a "wild" streak being my bright pink toenails and the *shock! horror!* open-toed sandals that I wore with said outfit.
Today is a much better day, sartorially. I ended up ducking into Old Navy last night for a polo shirt (in aqua) and a belt, so I don't have to wear the shapeless sack dresses anymore. That, and I sent some laundry up yesterday - so I'll have clean clothes.
Anywho ... today's clothes. I'm in the aqua polo shirt, tan jeans from Macy's (size 18 - from the Misses dept, thankyouverymuch!), and my swell stripe-y Birkenstocks. And I feel really damn pretty today.
Again, it's amazing how clothes can change the demeanor. :) Now, I just need to get my hair cut - and that's this weekend.
