By day two of class, I was starting to feel like my prior class had seriously fucked me over, in that I had only learned what I needed to pass the test - and that was it. The rest of it wast oh-so-conveniently left at "you'll learn it on the job". (Yeah, that really instills confidence in a person that's brand new to the field and doesn't know what an Insurance 101 class should involve.)
Thankfully, this go-round, the class is about what we need for the test, as well as practical, this is what you'll be using in your day-to-day in the real world. So, I'm very glad that I decided to take the full 52 hour class, because not only am I learning the California-specific insurance coverage, I'm re-learning the general Personal and Commercial insurance that I only learned in a horribly half-assed manner.
In other insurance geekdom, I saw this commentary on the Only A Game website, about the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens, Greece: Insuring The Olympics, and really liked it, not just because it talked some about the IOC getting Terrorism coverage for the Olympics, either. This quote at the end was especially good: "They will also have to realize that while awarding gold, silver, and bronze to the strongest competitors while sending everybody else home empty-handed may work at the games, uneven distribution of treasure is a vicious, stupid, and ultimately destructive way to run a planet."
Finally, since this Sunday is Mother's Day - and this coming Thursday is my mom's birthday - I sent her a swell gift from Lush, as well as some other goodies for the family. This is the Lush-ly goodness that has gone my family's way. For mom, I bought the Mum gift set - full of goodness for my mom to pamper herself with. For my stepdad, I bought him a little something to help him sleep better at night - the Counting Sheep gift set, and Taylor is getting a swell big-ass Think Pink bath bomb.
Well, my lovelies - that's my story, and I'm sticking to it! 8-D Have a great evening, and I'll write again soon!
